Tutorial: Creating Lightning
Author: Anubis
With extra credit to: -
Necessary tools: Photoshop 5 and up
Steps: 4
Difficulty: Simple

Step 1:

First create a new image, I used 500x500 in pixels, then fill the image with black.

Step 2:

Next use the Gradient tool on any section of the picture.

Step 3:

Now go to Filter>Render>Difference Clouds. Now hit Ctrl+I to invert the image.

Step 4:

Hit Crtl+U to change the hue, change it to any desired color but make sure to have colorize on. I changed it to dark blue.

End Tutorial

I know its simple, but it can be useful. I found this out by messing around with the filters and buttons.

Here is the finished product:

I think I like Kaia's better. It looks more realistic.

But yours is good for a start...(a bit useless since so far ti seems to only ahve the effect if we have a blue sky a.k.a. when it is not stormy.)

You can always use the tools in order to blend it better.

Thast amasing Kaia, very realistic!!!

hmm, this was my first attempt at a tutorial, i didnt know much photoshop....but yea, blend it more, patch it up and stuff and ya have lightning, also work with levels and brightness+contrass to get a good look.

but i dunno if i can continue with photoshop, this might be the end of that and the beginning of Flash design....err, i dunno but my photoshop is screwed and it wont come back

Ask Jeff, he had a similar problem.

Flash is always good, though. I might learn it to integrate it with Adobe Photoshop and 3D Studio Max, etc.
