eto']How much of that do you really use?

You really never use more than 512 mb of ram. Unless you play mmorpg's like WoW, or even a FPS like BF; you dont need that much ram. The only reason playing games with 1 gig of ram is that it increases loading time for huge maps and textures. The only good part of having 2 gig other than bragging is using 1 gig of it as ram disk. I have 2 gigs, but mostly because I got the second gig for free(I put together my computer myself) from my friend.

Hmm...To add to my other post; If you know a fair ammount about computers you can easily tweak the .ini or .cfg for Doom3, Half-Life2, Far Cry etc. so the strain is put onto your video card or processer if you dont have a lot of Ram.

NitrousBanned

i actually do the opposite, i give 64mb of my ram to my video memory to clock it up to 128mb.

lol, yeah its not a competition there is no point at all in having that much ram. It would make more sense if he put it in his old computer(s)....personally if my old computer was working, i would use my spare bog standard ram (i only have ddr now) to upgrade it and use it for my online gaming needs, (24-7 half life dedicated servers etc)

My RAM is 64mb, i am looking to upgrade it, but i was told it cannot be bought in a normal shop as my computer is too old, it has to be bought online. Does anyone know if any RAM would work, how do i know what sorts to get?! Thanx
