Stuck on Return of the King

When weve defeated the King of the Dead, (second level, in co-operative multiplayer mode as Strider and Gimli) we cross a bridge which has boulders falling on to it, the character of Gimli seems unable to run properly to exit the bridge, gets killed and so we fail the mission. The character of Strider can run ok though.
This happens every time.

Any thoughts/ideas please? Its driving us nuts!

how do u mean by not running properly? I find it very unlikely ur character can't cross that bridge

Its like the second character is wading through treacle even though your trying to run as fast as you can. It is always the second person crossing the bridge (its the same with Aragorn). We did wonder if it was a glitch or a controller problem but were not sure.
