Hi, folks. I know it's been a long time since I last said anything and I apologize for this, but I have been very busy. I have a question though concerning a card from the Invasion of Chaos booster packs called DNA Surgery.
Since DNA Surgery can be used to declare one attribute for all monsters on the field to be, like "Dragon" for example, plus with my favorite card the Dark Paladin, would it be possible for Dark Paladin to power up himself thanks to his effect on gaining 500 Attack Points from all Dragons on the field or graveyard because he now has a "Dragon" attribute on him?

Sorry, Rodan. If I read my rule book right, the attribute they are talking about is at the top of the card. The one that says either Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, Light, and Dark. That's why DNA surgery goes so well with the new Kaiba Evoulution deck, and his Kaiser Sea Horse. If you sacrifice 1 Light monster, it counts as two for a tribute summon. In other words, you only need one monster on the field, and the Sea Horse, sacrifice the other monster, and have a BEWD out in 3 turns. Neat trick, huh?

Wait, you're right, my mistake. I must have meant to say "Type", but said "Attribute" by accident. Thank you for clearing that up for me . But my question still remains, since DNA Surgery can be used to declare 1 "Type" of a monster, and if Dark Paladin is already on the field if I declared "Dragon", would he have his attack points powered up 500 points himself other than the other Dragon type monsters already on the field thanks to his effect and also DNA Surgery's effect?
Yes, what you have said about the Kaiser Sea Horse's effect is an interesting trick as I just got Kaiba Starter Deck Evolution very recently. I also wanted the Yugi Starter Deck evolution because it has 2 cards I want, which they are Swords of Revealing Light and Pot of Greed. I wonder if it is hard to find now, Yugi's Starter Deck Evolution that is?

According to YVD, DNA Surgery is from Pharoh's Servant. DNA Transplant is from Invasion of Chaos. You can get the Yugi Evoulution decks at any Wal Mart here in the states. Don't know bout anywhere else, though.
The Dark Paladin only says that it gains 500 ATK points for every Dragon type monster on the field (both sides) and in each player's graveyards. If you can somehow change the Paladin's type (say by using the D. Tribe trap card, also in the Kaiba Evolution deck, I believe), it would gain 500 points for himself. D. Tribe is a one turn trap, so use it wisely (i.e. have lost of cards on the field before using it). DNA Surgery would work, and it's a contiunous trap, so it probably would gain the bonus. I may be wrong though. I'm still rather new at YuGiOh. D. Tribe also only affects monsters on your side of the field, not your opponents.
I apoligize if I confused you, Rodan. I had DNA Transplant on the brain, and I got the info wrong. DNA Surgery I don't have in real life (I used my YVD to look it up), and you are most likely correct. It probably would work. Ask Neto. He'd know the answer.
For my info, what set is the Buster Blader in? I need one so I can use my Dark Paladin, but I can't find one. Would really appreciate the help.

Thank you for the answer on this one. I tried looking for the Yugi Starter Deck Evolution at the Wal-Mart nearby where I live, but it went clean out and were replaced by the Invasion of Chaos special edition boxes. I wonder if they ever restock booster packs or special edition tins and boxes? I think they might do because why are the Blue-Eyes White Dragon booster packs still around at the Wal-Mart I know.
As for your situation with Buster Blader, I think the card can be found under the Pharoah's Servant booster packs or you could do how I got it, search for the collectible tin box with Yugi and Buster Blader on the picture behind him because it is the variant card for that box. I have no guarantee it'll be easy to find tho', because it took me forever to find the tin box (that's also where I got Harpie Lady by the way). I found the tin box at a card store in Johnson City, Tennessee in a mall which is called "The Mall at Johnson City." I think it can be found on the internet if that'll help you. Of course, it was like more than 6 or so months ago when I went.

They still have the tins at the Wal Mart up here in PA where I live. Guess not too many around here play it. They still have Pharoh's Servant, Magican's Force, BEWD, Dark Crisis, Labyrinth of Nightmare, etc. boosters out here. lol
Thanks for the help, and your welcome as well.

Ah, good news. I finally got the Starter Deck Yugi Evolution. I finally got "Pot of Greed" and "Swords of Revealing Light." I also think I got "Axe of Despair," the equip card that gives a monster 1000 more ATK points than what one already has.
Speaking of awsome equip card combos, I'll tell you a little story about an interesting combo. I was teaching one of my cousins how to play Yu-Gi-Oh! for a while, and one day I was amazed at the most amazing combo she could've ever have pulled on me. It was the monster card Maha Vailo, which has the effect to gain 500 ATK points if an equip card is used for it. She had like 2 "Malevolent Nuzzler" cards, which gives a monster 700 ATK points. Here's the math:
1400 ATK for 2 Malevolent Nuzzler cards plus 1000 ATK points just for having them equiped on Maha Vailo plus Maha Vailo's 1550 ATK points it already has equals a total grand total of
3950 ATK points she could have hit me with if I had no monsters on the field.
I thought that was unbelievable that one monster can grow in such power overtime. Here's the rest of the story, though. She defeated a lot of my monsters on the field left and right, but that was until I found "Harpie's Feather Duster" I drew from my hand after about 3 to 4 turns, and since equip cards are still considered spell and trap cards, I used it to destroy all equip cards and eventually won the duel. How much LP I had left after this onslaught, you ask? 300 LP I think it was. At any rate, although I was teaching my 10 year old cousin how to play, that was actually the best duel I ever played because I had to really think about how to tame the beast that was Maha Vailo.

The Black Luster Ritual is in the Yugi Evouloution deck.

Here's what gets me, though. I'm sure Black Luster Soldier is a good card (because I have it too, though I haven't used it yet), but here's the thing. The ritual card says in order to summon Black Luster Soldier, the player has to activate the ritual card, place 2 monsters on your side of the field to the graveyard that has the total amount of 8 level stars as tribute just to summon Black Luster Soldier.
With the Blue-Eyes White Dragon on the other hand, all you need to do is only send 2 monsters on your side of the field to the graveyard as tribute to summon it, no ritual cards required. The card that could have been a ritual card in one's deck could be used for something like either effect monsters, Spell and/or Trap cards that could help one last longer if one plays the cards right.
But don't fret, Mistral. I'm not complaining about your strategy or anything, I don't know what you have in your deck and who knows, it might work out better with the Black Luster Soldier for you and I hope it does. Please forgive me if I offended you in any way. It's really up to you whether or not you want one card in your deck or another, and I wish you well on your strategy.

"Whoa there, little doggie" (just kidding, just thought I'd have fun by having a way of saying wait a second). Anyway, I'm not trying to be picky or nothing, so just bear with me for a minute. The cards you have, they are all good cards but there is one little problem. You have too many cards. I know that you can have up to 60, not counting any of the fusion monster cards, but it'll be harder for you now to bring out all the cards you need at the right moments.
If I remember this correctly, the minimum amount of cards to have is 40, but you can have more than that. Here's how to make sure you can get the best cards in your deck more smoothly: First, take a long and close look at your deck and see if whether or not you need some of them depending on your strategy. As the Rulebook for the game, the Duel Master's Guide, Upper Deck's official website, and perhaps some of the people here in this forum, would tell you the same thing. So my advice is keep what you think would ABSOLUTELY help you in your strategy. Secondly, as a result, you may have to get rid of some of the cards just so you can have a better chance to bringing out all the cards you really need.
Thirdly, and I think it is important, you may have to list out your cards better so you won't get confused with what's in your deck so you won't put the wrong card out as you are playing. I did so I wouldn't get confused with my deck with cards that I really didn't mean to put in it (happened to me before many times).
But as I said before, it is your deck and you can make any decision on what you want to do with it, but I hope the advice I have given you helps you out in any way possible. I say this because I think the idea of being a duelist is to help other players do well at the game and at the same time have fun with it. But I wish you good luck on your deck regardless.
