I just got an E-mail from you, Subject tiltle (none) with a 04meg attached file, only this file was a W32/Netsky.p@MM Virus. Hotmail and Norton both picked up on this as a virus and I just thought I should warn the rest of you who dont use hotmail and dont have an anti virus program. Also Genie you may want to check out your PC to see if it has the Netsky virus.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place mods but i just thought I should let you all know.

There's an option in outlook express ( if you use that ) to 'grey out' attachments. Be also very carefull with executing .exe files that you get or download.

Yep some how this Netsky virus looks through all you contacts on your PC and then send them an E-mail to make it look like it a mate that sent it.

For some reason the Netsky virus has come back alive as it seemed as if it was dead for a long time but Norton Anti-virus keeps on picking them out.

I once got a virus that created 5/6 files that were each about 1 gig of size..

When I deleted them they kept coming back after some time..

Nasty..

The usual vigilance always helps. Get a anti-virus program as it is always needed in the current computing environment. If you dont have one already go to www.grisoft.com and download the free version of AVG, it deletes virus infected emails automatically if you use outlook or outlook express.

Ah. I have AVG. It's good. Anyone who does not already have an anti-virus program should try AVG.

AVG?? AVG s*cks! It can't even get my virusses off ( maybe becuz it doesn't have a remedy yet against netsky.Q?) it just keeps coming back all the time

Hm. Alright. Well AVG seems to be ok with my computer. Put it never seems to pick up any viruses. Perhaps that's because their are none on my computer or perhaps it's just b*llocks like you say....

If you can, get Norton. Best anti-virus software to me (Detected the Sasser Worm faster than the other companies...and the patch was made by it)
It is only for 50 dollars (if you go to Amazon, there is one for about $16!!! Brand new)

Good thing I have no contacts...unless it searches Instant Messenger contacts.
I do not think that I have ever gotten it (no one has me as a contact :( )

Laguna Loire

I heard it's fairly good but it just takes LOADS of space on your computer.

Nitrous
06-22-2004, 09:50 AM
Norton only takes up about 30MB on a hard drive but if you have anything lower than 256MB of ram it can slow the loading speed of your PC. Other than that I think Norton is the best anti-virus program there is.

Norton is very high footprint on your system, also as it is one of the most used AV products many virii will stop it from working (yes this can be done). In the end it all depends on your system and how much you are willing to pay.

Yes...but how many viruses have actually surpassed it?

I don't get any pop-ups because I have Norton Internet security with the pop-up blocker and firewall turned on. Getting Norton Anti-virus and Internet security cost me a lot of money at the time but it has been well worth it.
