Can anyone direct me to one ( free prefered )
If such a thing exists...

because I've heard rumors of adware removers who were fake or contained virusses, are these rumors true?

Their are 2 that I know of. adaware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/) and spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/). I personally use just spybot but a lot of people use both. It is just personal preference I think.

yes a lot of people say they are complimentary to each other. I figure adaware just counts cookies as something it has to delete.

They pick up different things because of small differences in the engines that they use. Using both is a very good idea.

i have both and and yes they r free and r very handy in doing the job. how ever spybot does come up with a message that it detects that u have adaware software just click ok and it still does it job only 1 draw back for me ( from my point of view) if u download a certain programs it will come up with a message that u have a trojan and then u run then scan it dont detect it sorry all this is from my point of view here and im new so plz be gentle lol :D

false positives will always happen with any sort of trojan and virus detection just because many copy part if not all the code from a legit program.
