if you are starting out in 3d stuff why not try blender or maya PLE ? both are free (blender under GPL) and I believe they can both also export to formats that 3ds can edit.

I've actually never got Maya to export other than obj...maybe its just me.

The PLE, though, has a huge watermark on it.

I think you should at least try Milkshape. A stripped down version of 3ds Max, and it is free. I think now a days it has a 30-day thing, but you can just download it again, I think.

yeah, i was looking at Maya Prices, because you can do animation, 3D rendering and more, and it was seriously high, couldnt afford that much. haha

Well I take lightly on used.

I'd rather buy the one from discreet, since it such an expensive program, I would make sure it is good.

Well I guess it is closed then.
