Yeah not many people know the art of a good argument. Unfortuanatly if one started here I wouldn't join anyway, because I don't play games ever, haha. Haven't played a video game in like, a year.

Aaah, PS2 is best for games but it sucks for graphics...However, I'm not concerned about games that are graphically challenged. I am concerned about the gameplay more than graphics. Therefore, PS2 rules all! X-Box is awesome as well but the PS2 is better for games.

web slinger you clown overall public opinion is that the playstation 2 is most popular and almost every home in america has one, simply because PS1 pwned N64 during that race(as cartridges were obsolete by then) but serious gamers choose the Xbox now and as the system of the future, simply because of it's unbelievable power

i own both consoles, ok Sony have Square... and i'm quite the squareslave as Cid will tell u, apart from that i don't see anything all that great about it.

here are a few of the positives and negatives i've found with the Xbox and PS2
PS2 positives-
Eyetoy (this fecking thing is sooooo cool)
Square (FF is immortal)
vertical stand (fits in beside my X-Box)
HD (yes the expansion is there, when are we going to get it though)
some beautiful RPG's, not much else

Xbox-
beautiful Dolby surround
HD
case modding (easy if u know wat ur doing)
Loading (i cannot stand long load times, u can restart a race or a level and not hav to wait 20-30 seconds for it to reload the level up) saves locally (eg:Halo)
no DRE's (Disk Read errors) i've had my Xbox for 3 years and not one problem with the drive
4 player (woot! it's good to play together)
Ethernet (easily plug up to an ethernet hub for 16 player action, or direct sys link for 8)
an abundance of multiplayer games

PS2 Negatives
DRE's (yup! has this ***** a year and a half, sit down to play a DVD or an old PS1 game and decides to make some freaking loud scraping noises, put it down to the drive manufacturer?)
Loading (grrrrrrrrrrrrroannnnnnn, i'm growing moss here)
Ethernet (or should i say... lack of it!)
multiplayer (i see two player?)

Xbox Negatives-
overpriced GENUINE accessories (memory cards, expansions, controls, wireless)
extremely long CD ripping time (something like 15-20 minutes for a 80 minute Cd

so as u can see I was trying hard to find Xbox negatives

don't argue that Xbox has a lack of RPG's either because that is not true

exactly, look at the difference in how long the consoles have been around and how many of those old games are even worth touching with a ten foot pole? not freaking many, and overall the PS2 releases coming out now, look the same anyhow! there's no dramatic advances in gameplay or graphics, because the Ps2 wasn't safeguarded for the future

VERY IMPORTANT THOUGH; [I do rather my XBox but..] Gta San Andeas wont come out for XBox for a year, and KILLZONE, the apparent Halo beater.. be also a Halo2 beater.. doubt it though.

HL2 should come out on X-Box 2005 sometime...X-Box has some good games coming up. Doom 3, HL2 (hopefully), Call Of Duty, Far Cry...

Killzone is looking to be one good game on the PS2 though. It looks great...Seen some sick screenshots of it.

You have a point....I would like to see some graphics improvement on San Andreas because so far all the GTA games on PS2 have had the same graphics style....What most people (including me) are excited about though are the new features in SA. To make the lifespan on it longer. Examples: You can make your character fat or slim. You can swim (about time!). 4 man (including yourself) drive-by shootings. I think it's going to be awesome...

The ps2 has had more games. thats fact, the ps2 was out a year before the xbox so it has 1 years more games than the xbox anyway, contracts were made now, but around now the renewal of contracts must be made, and its not happening. Simply because the xbox can handle more stress. at the end of the day the Ps2 is like a pc. Its getting too weak to handle the best..

Gamecube - Best if you're out on the road.
PS2 - Best variety of games.
X-Box - Best hardware.

Put all three together and you have a system no one can complain about.

i played return to castle wolfenstein on my uncles ps2(i 11 by the way) and it was impossible to use the thumbsticks to control the aim and it also played dismally!!!
the ps2 is only more popular coz it has been around (to rough date)10 years. xbox=4 .of course the ps2 will sell better.
the xbox only costs a lot coz of the freakin nvidia display drivers which the ps3 hav adopted and upgraded.
