Pros and cons for the three main consoles:

X-Box Pros

Has a built in HD.
4 controller ports on console.
733MHz CPU (the most powerful out of the three and gives fast loading times)
233 MHz graphics processor (the most powerful out of the three)
The best online experience around.
Great games (Halo, Project Gotham Racing 2 etc)
No disc read errors.

X-Box cons

It's huge and weighs a ton!
Takes ages copying CDs to the HD.
You have to pay to play online.
You have to buy a remote to play DVDs.

PS2 Pros

Eyetoy :D
Final Fantasy :D
Free online play!
You can stand it up vertically.
San Andreas will be on PS2 first.
You don't have to buy a remote to play DVDs!

PS2 Cons

Disc Read Errors! ARGH!
300 MHz CPU (the worst processor out of the three, giving crappy loading times)
150 MHz Graphics Processor (the worst graphics out of the three)
You have to buy a multitap for four player games.

GameCube Pros

485 MHz CPU (Good processor giving fairly quick loading times)
162 MHz Graphics processor (Not bad but not much different from the PS2s processor.)
Tiny discs which are easy to carry around!
Tiny console which isn't a hassle to lug around!
Some good games on it (SSMB, Super Monkey Ball 2 etc)
4 controller ports!
No DREs!

GameCube Cons

Lack of GTA series on the console.
Complex controller design making it easy to press the wrong button.


Well, my favourite is the X-Box. Why? Because it's the most powerful and has some brilliant games on it! Also has the best online experiance ever...Even if you have to pay for it.

hang on, i think i just figured it out.... it's the controllers. the PS2 controllers, because we've grown up with them so long we feel more comfortable playing with them, and Microsoft fumbled with the original Xbox control and tried to redeem with the Controller S...

this has nothing to do with the systems themselves but with the accessories, oh and the pretty colours on the loadup screen for Ps2, built in subliminal messaging

PS2 does have the best games, and the simplest controller layout. X-Box controllers aren't too complicated, Gamecube controllers though...That's a different story. :P I play on my PS2 a lot more than my X-Box now because it does have the best games and such...PS2 pwns!

Lol, yeah if the PC was a console it would reign supreme over X-Box and PS2...But since it isn't, the PS2 rules. But c'mon, you have to agree, the Gamecube is mainly aimed at kids ages 6-10. I mean most of the games on the system are aimed at that age group. Pokemon? Super Mario? Ok, so the games are fun but they are aimed at a particular age group...I think. It's no wonder Vice City isn't on the Gamecube. Noone would buy it as all the players are too young! :P

Let's face it, most people here can't handle a true console debate.

I'm 15 and I own a Gamecube. Why do I have it? For some of the classical and entertaining games. Graphics has become quite an important part of gaming nowadays, when gameplay is more important. Gamecube goes for both, as well as the other systems. But honestly, PS2 sucks at loading times. Anyone who has played the other consoles would agree with me that PS2 is the slowest. They should have focused more on the gaming itself rather than packing other stuff into a console. I mean, it's Sony - even if they released the PS2 a year before the other consoles were released, they could've still done better.

Reliable, how reliable is having to wait 15 mintues to try to play Dragonballz 2 buduki on a cumersome PS2?!

Ask anyone with a PS2 and Xbox and they will tell you Xbox live is way better than Sony online. Sony online is free sure, but I rather pay the $50 a year to have a better quality online service. On Xbox live you can even watch some shows like Red Vs Blue.

I see myself playing only old games most of the times, I never cared about graphics or loading times.

Hell, in the old days when I still had a NES I would try to play a game but you have to reset the console everytime because the game didn't work ( blowing the dust out of the game case helped!:P )

I would try to make the game work for about 10 minutes, then it worked and I had fun.

Most people now aren't satisfied with anything, everything has got to be better, faster, smoother and better looking.

Bah, it's those kinda people that make the games of today crap.

Microsoft didn't create every game that is available Kris, there are lots of game developers.

PC is better in playing those games, IMO, shooter games for example are best played on PC because of the controls ( that's why the most popular shooter games are on PC)

For once i agree with neto...it's not as bad as you all think. have you ever carried one? it's not heavy...maybe 5 pounds and you can get a case for it to travel with and it's not heavy at all.

Yeah, that's what I like about the X-Box. But you can't play your custom songs on every game. You can only do it on certain games. Plus, it takes ages to burn them on the HD. But still, it's a nice feature.

I'll admit, the GC isn't like the worst console ever. I mean, I don't really like it, but there are some brilliant multiplayer games on it. Super Monkey Ball 2, all the Mario Party games, Super Smash Melee Brothers...Awesome games. The controls are a little awkward when you first start playing, but you do sorta get used to em after a while.

meh I not a fan of the GameCube just because of the game's, the GC is aimed at the little kids that like games such as Monkey Ball 2 and Mario. I did play NFS2 on the GameGube the other day in my mates shop and it wasn't very good. NFS2 is good it's just that the frame rate was suffering in parts of the game because the GC couldn't handle the fast pace action. Played it on the X-box and PS2 and it was fine, perfect infact.

Now I am not gunna say that the PS2 is better than the X-box or X-box better than the PS2 coz there not, there both good. I dunno maybe it's because I own both now lol but I have found that FPS games do play better on the X-box while racing and rally games are best at home on the PS2.

xboxwizz is right. The g-cube does freeze sometimes. My friend has true crime for it, and it freezes ALL THE TIME when he plays it. I dunno if it's his g-ube or his copy of true crime or what, but it froze a lot. it happened with his pokemon colleseum,too.

GBA cons:
Portable-Doesn't that make you happy. A little.
Plays GBC games-Keep those GBC games if you wanna.
Hooks up to GCN-If you can do it,then do it!

GBA cons:
No built in light-Wastes your battery when you play it at night,and you have to buy the light.

GBA SP pros:
Built in light-Sure it wastes your battery,but you can play it at night without buying extra stuff.
Plays GBA and GBC games-Thats good.

GBA SP cons:
I can't think of any.

DS pros:
2 screens-Sure its cool.
Voice activation-It might be neat.

DS cons:
Doesn't play GBC games-Oh well. Its a newer version.

Personal Computers are better then all consoles as they have more uses and they can be upgraded to play games with better graphics and higher Processor usage, where as all console games are built only for the hardware of the console so if a console has a bad graphics card pretty much every game made for the console will have bad graphics. If it has a bad processor then all the games will have a minute number of variables. If a console has really good hardware eventually Personal Computers will become better. As for game play it's personal opinion and can't be argued about.

I personally like the Gamecube and PS2. I have seen the Xbox, and it's good. It's just not as good as the Gamecube and PS2. Most of the Xbox games are copies of the PS2 versions of the game, which is why I don't see the point of having them both.

You got a point but there are quite a few Xbox only titles that are pawnage.. unless you have a high end spec PC to take advantage of Graphics ect which I dont so the Xbox versions will do me just fine! :cool:

Actualy I'd hate to just own an Xbox without having a LamePube... ooppps sorry GameCube or PS2 becuase Resident Evil 4 aint on the Xbox.... Thats probably the only game I'd hate not to have.

Now I know Halo is a must have but if I just had a PS2 I could live with that coz I'd Have Killzone to make up the sub lol... as it is I have a PS2 and Xbox so I guess this last paragargaph was a waste of time typing... doh!

also I don't see the xbox 360 being able to play xbox games so that means your going to spend more money just to play games for both the xbox and xbox 360 while the people who have ps3 can just buy all playstation1 through playstation 3 games and be able to play them on one system!!

With all the years i have had my Xbox, it has never had 1 disc read error. While with PS2, it had loads (mind you it was the big old PS2, the Slimline is better)

Well, I don't know about the city having a crappy layout, it was well organized to me and it was awesome that after a while you could familiarize yourself with the city.

The cars were amazing, because not everyone drives in a sweet car, this game was realistic in that way, normal civilian cars with here and there a sports car which makes sense.

Also I don't quite agree on that it never looks like you're going fast, in most cars you won't because they are normal cars, but in some cars I really got the feel that I was going quite fast, the surroundings around me started to blur and such.

But that's just my view on it :) Maybe I have a weak for San Andreas

You say th cities are "crappy". They are based on real places, Los Angeles, San Fransisco and Las Vegas, and they seem to be pretty well done without licensing agreements.

I agree with Cid on the car front, not everyone drives around in supercars, i see very few supercars on the game, and if i do see them, they are in Venturas.

All opinions and experiences again...so i'll give mine. I've had 4 replacement PS2's and zero replacement xbox's, The Quality of games on the PS2 is sub-standard apart from the odd few, The xbox had some unheard of but brilliant games......Microsoft have done the gaming industrie a favour and have really put the pressure on sony to actually put the effort in this time....which after having a PS3...they havent.
Ow and mcdogit......Quake was a PC game way before nintendo even had considered the N64 or Cube.

And as for the GTA series being crap, They arent...my only problem is the graphics...which would of been remedied if they actually released the series on something more powerful than my Tv remote (yes i really hate the PS2 for the problems it caused me)
