What the hell is ppl's view on religion here, i happen to believe that its a big ploy to try and control the world, which has worked well enough upto the last 100 years.

I was born into a Catholic family btw, but i honestly think that Jesus Christ is an entertaining fictional character.

Please, post your beliefs, dont hold back:):P

well, im wiccan (dare not mock me >_O) but i dont think god or stuffs is real, and hell cant be real because there are at least 2 religions that i know of that say that if you dont believe in that one, then you go to hell... so everyone goes to hell thus no need for heaven >.<
damn religions... atm, i dont have any idea what to believe in

Invader_gir

lets just hope that people accept others beliefs
if ya fight over it, they are more likely to not want to believe that religion and want to think about changing to it than if you just mention it

Meh....Religon. They say when someone dies, it's part of God's divine plan. Lots of people die everyday. Some people say this is God communicating with us...Signs, if you will. But c'mon, is the loss of at least 100+ lives everyday worth like world peace or something? A real God doesn't kill. A real God ressurects...Religon = Big sham. There is no afterlife. You go into an eternal sleep....

i am an aethiesit

i use the term extreme aetheist very loosely...lol

DEATH TO ALL EXTREMISTS!!

but anyhoo folks...

Relegion has 1 big fault. People actualy FIGHT over religion. Now, tell me this, which religion tells you its good to fight??

see what im getting at??

I think that the bible ( if not all true ) still remains a sorta guidebook to life, even if it isnt all actually true.

You can live like a buddhist without actually being one y'see

( and yes i know that the bible is christian and buddhists dont read from the bible but i find the way buddhists live interesting. They dont actually HAVE to beleive in a God, their religion is all about living the right way. )

I was born as a christian, never really believed, studying wicca, but mostely just witchcraft at the moment. I believe some things that are said there, and it makes sense, though it isn't my belief either. I'm deffo not a christian( too lowrespect for nature...humans are better then all beings yadayadah) but I don't believe there's a god and a goddess within us and that we can summon them ( though I wish I could but I'm not going to pretend)..after all that I've seen and read about beliefs ( wicca christian hindu etc) there is no match to what I believe: respect nature, give and take, do not hurt others, do not judge them, do not think you're better then the animals or what/whoever, YOU ARE EQUAL TO EVERYTHING THAT LIVES..everything that lives dies, and so will you. DO not think you can CHANGE that process by summoning anything, leave spirits alone and rest, etcetcetc...I envy those who do believe there is an afterlife, I just do not...believe that. what gives us the right to believe we need something to live for? that life has a meaning? I believe it's useless, and will always be, though I'm not sad...

( aiight....* sigh*...long story >_<)

There must be something more, I know there is. Just think to the moments before you were born, where were you? Why don't we fear that but fear what is to come [death]? We shouldn't, there's a reason why we're here. Science nor Religion are right, only the process that is life is correct. The way you live it, you decide, but you will have to deal with the consequences.

In whatever you believe, you may have to deal with the consequences now, or later on where you may go.

I think religion began as an attempt to understand the unknown, and to provide order and a sense of well-being and purpose to people. As far as I know, most religions are still like that, but some of the very powerful ones (namely, Christianity, Islamic extremism, and perhaps Hinduism) were altered and twisted to suit the purposes of the authorities. Religion became an effective method for people with power to maintain that power and control the actions of others, and sadly, this form of religion still has great sway in the world.

Religion is something people made to keep us focused on one thing other than ruinging our lives thinking there is no Higher being in Life and Society, Its no different than what others believe, all Religions add up to one thing. Belief in a Superior Being.

although some religions are different, dont believe in a superior.

Not saying anything at all, just saying that Religion has One point to it, To believe in something, To keep us going everyday, to make us think there is something we acheive by being good to others and so on.

IMO, anyways

I used to be christian, and I do hold onto some things from it. But I'm mainly Buddhist after working with ki and taking the martial art Aikido.

Lately, I've been kind of torn as far as religion is concerned. To many, it does indeed seem to be a way of living justly and even happily, but to others, it's like a means to an end.

Taking Chemistry AP has made me question everything to the point in which we all actually exist. But I can tell you something, and that is that there is so much more than what we see or know. I may not be religious, but I just feel that there's something out there, something we cannot comprehend. There must be, or all of this just isn't true.

Of course there is a God. That's where my christain side kicks in. Jesus did die on the cross, and Jesus entered Nirvana/Nibbana. Also that's where Saddhamat(sp?) or Buddha went as a angel.

A religion that can effectively guide someone through life. Indeed, I suppose being religious can have its advantages.

I was born in a catholic family. I have been a druid and a wiccan^^ Right now I'm just a mix of all kinds of religions. I don't think there's this ONE religion that is the best. Each one of them has its flaws.

I gotta say i'm mainly atheist, although i do like the idea of reincarnation... Talking about christianity, How could there be a hell, if theres heaven, why would n't god (if he's even there) allow a place so cruel and barbaric such as hell to even exist...?

Half-White
02-08-2005, 12:27 AM
Supposedly, hell really isn't a place of unfathomable torture, it's really a state of being after death in which you know longer have any chance of recieving God's love.

I'll bet that during the Dark Ages, church authorities in Europe twisted it so that people would be scared into converting to Christianity.

Pixels
02-09-2005, 05:36 PM
and again, in the darkages they would kill non-believers, scaring them further... With then associates hell with death.

And so just imagine how many people were killed because they chose to stick to their customs and beliefs. Sad.
