DS - Dead Already? Why you ask, read on.
Just some news I happen to recive by E-mail. *copy and Pastes*

It's clear to see that Nintendo has put a lot of thought and effort into the handheld, and although it feels rather insubstantial, the picture clarity is astonishing.

Sadly, it's already made us aware of a potential problem that could ruin Christmas for a lot of DS owners - namely, the possibility of dead pixels on either screen. The top screen on our DS already has one dead pixel (which is extremely noticeable) Whether this is an isolated incident, or hints at bigger problems in the future remains to be seen.

Dead pixels are just that: pixels which don't work. They can be quite frustrating. Most of the time you don't notice them, but somehow once you do your eyes are drawn to them. We're staring at ours right now.

"We suggest that you use your system for a few weeks to determine whether this interferes with your enjoyment of game play. If, after using your system for awhile, you feel that this tiny dot is too distracting then you should be ok as Nintendo have offered to inspect and even fix the problem at no cost as long as the machine is returned within the one-year warranty period which apply worldwide, naturally, which is good news for anybody considering a DS purchase when the system lands in Europe next spring.

Our advice at the moment? Keep watching the screens...

My thought is what does this mean for the PSP? It's possible that the same thing could happen with Sony as well. So hmm maybe ya might want to wait a while before ya get a DS. So maybe ya might want to wait a while and get one of the later versions on the DS and hopfuly the problem might be fixed by the time it hits the UK.

Yes, as soon as I read about this problem, I decided to wait until most DS systems were inspected, and hopefully the problem will be fixed by the time I decide to buy one for myself.

Who knows when it will be fixed, soon hopefully.

But me on the other case, wont buy one untill they are MUCH cheaper, since $150 is quite a bit of money... also i got my SP on sale at $75 with a free game included, and the SP was a limited Edition Color (Lime Green) and i dont know ANYONE that has a Lime Green one... I always get, 'Where'd you get that AWSOME SP?? Kumon tell me!' and it kinda funnie ;)

That's too bad, dead pixels are the scourge of LCD's and one of the reasons I'm holding off on buying an LCD monitor.

hmm this limited edition SP ya talkin about wouldn't happen to look like the one ma mate has, only he has a red one as it came with this game he got called Mario vs Donkey Kong or somthing like that.

Anyway. The DS screen might get fixed when they make the later DS Models.
I find that it's best to sit back and wait to see what happens.

Considerin it will be there first Portable Device, and since they are trying to slop it together and get it out bfore the PS3, yes it will be a mess... Sony is trying to get more into the PSP than the DS has, so if the DS is having this prob, imagine wut would happen to the PSP... :rolledeye

I was reading some stuff last night about the PSP and DS on T.V Txt (cefax pages)
(Yes I was board) It said the DS has 1GB of built in memory or somthing like that for saving games on, is that true? while the PSP is only gunna have 8MB like the PS2 memory card.

I'm still not gunna get the DS or PSP but just thought I would let ye know what I found.

No one listen to Forsaken he is just blinded by his anti-Sony attitude to know a good thing when he sees it. We just wait and see how the PSP makes out, you can't just nay say it right from the start.

Multiplayer mode in the DS only requires one player to actually own the cartridge. Also, there is a possiblity that the DS has 1GB of built-in storage. This could be for chat saves, or game saves, as well. And as inter_a mentioned, the DS has both GBA and DS game slots.

Well, I got my DS yesterday and I haven't seen any dead pixels yet. I got Super Mario 64 DS and it's really good. You do start out as Yoshi but eventually save Mario, Luigi, and Wario and can use them. Some people were stating that there might be some control issues since the d-pad isn't as precise as the thumbstick, but if you use the thumb strap and the touch screen it works really well. I haven't had any problems. Also, the mini-games are really fun.
