Ok two days ago WMP works fine. I put in my CD(s) because i rip the songs to my computer. A friend burns me some Children of Bodom CDs and last night i put them in to rip them to my comp so i dont have to use the CD.

So i put in my newly burnt CD and i get this error (Attached)

So i think ok maybe the CD is faulty... I put in the other CD, same error. I put in my Into Eternity CD, and the new Impaled Nazarene CD that worked the day before, and last week and every time i put them in i get this same error.

It doesnt make any sense to me. I uninstalled WMP and reinstalled it with the .exe right from the windows site...

Maybe i have to uninstall ALL of the Windows Media items in the Add/Remove Programs list ?

Maybe it has something to do with CD/DVD emulation software (Clone CD?)

I have also tried using both my CD Drive (E: ) and my DVD Drive (D: )

....

Try using a different program for ripping and see what happens?

If it thinks its on different computer, and your PC aint networked, check the network settings on your PC, coz if the network shows as disabled/disconnected then something is ****ed up.

Maybe it isn't opening the CD but a different file all together?

Then why does it show:

Track 1
Track 2
Track 3
etc.

With the error symbol beside them? If it does have to do with my "typing the wrong path" where do i go to check this?

Maybe your cd drive aint reading the cds properly.

Hmm that's a possibility... Winamp won't play the CDs either... WTF Happened though? One day it works, the next it doesnt...

Quite a piss off...

Mmmm, nope. It reads the CDs and everything, just wont play them in WMP/Winamp.

I went to a tech forum and after a few attempts at fixing it, it turns out to be the simplest thing. My "defaults" for WMP and Winamp were conflicting with eachother, so i unchecked the CD Audio in Defaults on each and now it works perfectly...
