Well, to play The Sims 2, you'll need a PC with at least 1 GHz, a video card which supports DirectX 9.0, same for the sound card, a HD with at least 3.5GB, 256MB Ram, and an 8-Speed CD/DVD drive...

Dell is bad, they tend to break kinda easy and Dell upgrades cost an arm an a leg!
Mac is ok... but they just don't match the performace of a pc when playing games that demand a lot of memory a farily fast Frames Per Second ratio.

On paper a top end spec Mac matches that of a top end PC but thats just on paper that can be over done by the manafuctures.

Best bet is to walk into ya local PC shop and have a look around.... checking the prices and specs.... oh and while I'm at it... best Laptops has to be a thinkpad. ;)

It's easier to just get a really crappy PC, don't get a Dell, they suck, and then upgrade the parts in it to play the games you want...Yeah, those were the minimum specs for The Sims 2 so you'll need all of that if you especially want to play that...

Got a friend that has a Dell, breaks down a lot, and I've heard this about many other Dell computers as well...

The cost for fixing Dells is really high, that is why they are crappy.

Whatever you get, just make sure that has AT LEAST 5gb. of memory and never ever ever EVER get anything lower than a pentium4 processor. Not that you would even buy one lower but I have used a Windows98 with a pentium3 pro. and it would be totally impossible to explain how frickin' slow it was. (I hate DELL so much! :mad: )

barebone computer sometimes they have good deals
get a Soyo K7VTA Pro Socket A Barebone Kit / Tower Case / 350 Watt Power Supply go there. and just because is cheap does not mean it good!!!!!!! :-)
