It's finally out here in the UK, and I'm thinking of getting it. MGS1 and 2 rock, and I'm wondering if this one does too. It certainly looks good, but I'm wondering if anyone has any information on it. Not on the storyline, I'll find that out myself, but on the gameplay itself. I heard there's no Soliton radar on this one. Does this make the game a lot cooler, having to rely on your instincts? Or does it just make the game tiresome and frustrating? I also heard that you have to eat some animals in the jungle to survive. Is this a tiresome charade or does it make the game more atmospheric? Any information on this sorta stuff would be appreciated. :)

@LS: this is taken from one of the review sites I go on it scored 90% which is dam good:

Well from that i would say it's a pritty safe buy if you liked the other MGS games and at our local Game (shop) there selling it at £29.99 because it's a chart title.... hehe hope Gran Tursismo 4 will be the same price!

The £29.99 offer was meant to finish in Feb but it's over run coz basicaly they can make a lot of money on it..... my mate in his shop told me he carn't compete at the moment.... he hopes they stop with the offer soon...

Ah, cheers mate. Yeah, it certainly looks and sounds good...I went on the official MGS site yesterday, the characters in the game look pretty cool, the storyline sounds alright, typical MGS scenario, nuclear war about to happen, lots of profit etc...The screenshots I've seen look great, the detail in it looks great...It's likely I'll get this next time I see it...:)

I've palyed the demo which is good you get up to the bit where you free that guy... i think its good and are definitly going to but it the camofluge index and the way food works is kool

Ok guys this is now the offical talk thread for MGS3... hopfuly this may stop the making of threads for MGS3, talk and ask questions or request some help... just keep the spaming down people, thats all I have to say for now.

Well, just thought I'd tell all you MGS fans that if you're thinking of getting MGS3, get it immediately! It's a great game, it can be very tense without the radar, and hunting and eating your own animals is a very cool feature. You can also 'Cure' yourself, but not like just eating something and it restores your health, you can actually perform actual surgery on yourself! Like, if you've got a bullet wound, you've got to do stuff like spray it with lotion, dig the bullet out with your knife, wrap bandages round it etc...It's a great game, the storyline seems pretty cool, I'm not that far in the game right now, but it sounds cool at the point I am now...

mgs2 was impossible.there were so many modes i didnt know wat to do?i mite get it or borrow it today (MGS2)

MGS2 wasn't impossible...I didn't think it was. Wasn't that hard...Anyway, MGS3 might come out on X-Box. It'll probably come out on PC too...If you don't own a PS2 and it comes out on a system you do own, get it!!! It's awesome...

I'm gonna get it soon. Good thing I gots a PS2. I hope it comes out on the PSP. Or a remake of one of the MGS games.

I think an MGS game is coming out on the PSP, Metal Gear Acid I think it's called or something...I don't know whether it's in relation to MGS1, 2 or 3 though...

By the way, for those who beat MGS2, in case you're worried that MGS3 doesn't solve the cliffhanger at the end because it's a prequel, relax. It does...;) I managed to beat it in 15 hours on Normal and I got a ranking of 'Panther'. I have no idea whether that's good or bad, but it sounds better than the 'Mongoose' ranking I got on MGS1. :P

actually, on MGS2 it was real hard to know what u were doing. there were so many modes that it ws too crazy for me lol.i mite rent it but i just read last nite on OAXM that like MGS2, MGS3 is most likely gonna come on xbox

yeh it does sound really good...i have never played any of the mgs games but read great reviews of them in magazines and other websites...i might buy it when i go out next...im still hooked on gt4 atm see!

MGS2 didn't come out on X-Box though, that was just MGS2 Substance, which was basically an expansion pack for MGS2, except you didn't need to own MGS2...I never did buy Substance. It didn't really look that good, looked kinda repetetive.

@Josh, yeah mate, you should get MGS3, even if you havn't played any other MGS games, it's really good...You won't understand the storyline, as you really need to have played the other MGS games to get it, but to be honest, I don't think it matters, it's an awesome game overall...:)

Here's like an MGS history...

Metal Gear - Very old game, the very first Metal Gear game ever, although there's no reason to get this, seeing as it's on a very old console. I forget which one...

Metal Gear 2 - Again, a very old game on a very old console...I've never played Metal Gear or it's sequel, but they were both awesome aparently...

Metal Gear Solid - The first game which started the series of Metal Gear Solid. This is on the PS1, great game, I still play it sometimes...

Metal Gear Solid 2 - Again, another great game, except this one is on the PS2. Loads of new features...

Metal Gear Solid 3 - Meh, you already know about it...

Josh, you should be able to find MGS1 and 2 pretty cheap. Although, MGS1 might be harder to find, since it's on the PS1...
