Ok basicaly there is a laptop up for sale where ma mum works... It's got a good alround spec and no it's not a Dell :D The only thing that makes me think twice is the XP home... we have XP pro but on a slower PC. Basicaly just want to know what the difference is.

Note: This Laptop has the latest updates to windows home edition while our XP pro doesn't.

XP Pro is for those who work with computers. Greater control over what your PC is doing, basically. If you use it for other things, I wouldn't bother.

Yea that seems to be what people are saying on other boards that I found using google... no biggy problem I guess. *sigh* hope we don't get it coz I'll have to spend time confiq in this Internet and a bunch of other stuff... but on the other hand it'll be as fast as the PC i have in my room oh and a sound card which will be nice seeing as this don't have one lol

Their really is only a couple of subtle differences between the two. I really do like xp pro though, and I really wouldn't want to go with home version ever. That is just my opinion though.

*sigh* the laptop is here, I aint seen it yet coz my mum has it at work. I ain't lookin forward to this, should be ok once I get everything up and running the way it should be. *sigh*

I hope the Internet wants to work with it coz if it don't then these could be ma last words on c/d for a long time coz this PC aint even 100% ours coz it's one that my uncle gave us. He don't know about the laptop yet tho hehe.

usually XP Pro is used at companies etc, it can be bought in multi packages, where the license spans over many computers... Whereas Home edition is a one of payment and tahts it...

iwould go for xp pro if u check on microsft they say they added another loads more to it and by apllying all the fixes and they also added tons of c++ code which made it better then home. i dont have home i have pro so i think u should get pro or if u can and if ur experienced get linux its more powerful but harder to use
