That the Apocalypse would come in March or February or some date that we've already passed...You've not snapped, you just made a mistake. Besides, if you ask me, the Apocalypse means the end of the world, and the world will end in about like a million years because the Earth will eventually stop spinning...At least, that's what my science teacher told me. Perhaps that symbolises the Apocalypse...?

i had to watch a thing in science last year about the end of the world..
apparently the sun has a 'safty' thing around it thats just the right tempiture for us to live in, byond it its too cold and infrount of it its too hot. apparently the 'safty' thingy is forever moving outwards, so eventually mars will be the same temp as earth, and so forth. umm.. yeah, so eventually we have to move to mars.. or something
if you ask me this does sound pretty realistic.. well, sort of..
but is it just me, or is it getting hotter in summer than previous summers and colder in winter than previous winters? x_x
well.. enough of that

Oh, all right.
Yeah, it'll be a while before that. Either 2019 when we all die from being impacted by an asteroid, or when we all just waste away (being on how we treat the earth and all)
Or get nuked by aliens. Or ourselves.

But yeah, the apocalypse.... It won't be happening for a while. We'll probably we old and gray, or just getting out of the house, depends on what you believe. If you were an Aztec (or was it another group), the end of the world came around about every 60 years.

That is not enough time. If you had a girlfriend that you knew for 1 day and then an asteroid was said to be arriving in 3 days, you would be pretty angry then wouldn't you, lol. Though 14 years is a while.
By the way the recent studies say that the world will end in 5 billion years or so. I'm pretty sure that we'll all be dead by then. Now I have a new question!
Do you think we will ever find a new planet to live on (excluding Mars which we believe we can inhabit in the future)? I would be interested in hearing any opinions.
I will post my opinion too if anyone is interested.

i got told in science last year that all we need to do in mars is pollute it a bit so that the atmosphere is able to keep enough heat in, plant some things that will start making oxygen so things are able to live there and start somehow getting water there (maybe theres water under the ground like on earth?) on the surface so that the sun can evaporate it, it will get caught in the atmosphere and create rain.

That asteroid actually isn't large enough to destroy the Earth. Also, that claim was rejected and placed as a minor possibility. Scientists say that it is bound to miss the Earth and that the very worst it could do is cause a few tidal ways due to gravitational effects.

The apocolypse must come. Eventually the sun will blow itself out. Scientists have proven that already (at that point the Sun is known as a Red Giant). I don't know how you can't have heard of such things. The Sun will swallow Earth and eventually will shrink into a White Dwarf and all remaining planets will float away and will probably join other Solar Systems. So that means that we all think that the end of the World is coming.

Our sun isn't a red giant, but a Main Sequence. Besides, the sun is expanding slowly, it'll be tons of years before the sun actually is able to engulf mercury. And by the time the sun is even NEAR our planet, we'll most likely be gone from the intense heat, we travelled, or we just killed ourselves. Or, the planet could have been burnt into oblivion by the time the sun is close.

Every few years or so, they say we're all gonna die in the year-blah-blah-blah.
Sometime in the 1990s, they were saying that the end of the world was on 2019 (or something like that), the supposed time this ginormous peice of space rock the size of a soccer field is going to crash into us.
And each time they predict it, the stupid thing flies right by us (just a little closer each year).
Honestly speaking, I believe we are going to be the cause of the 'end of the world'. We pollute, kill off animals, kill off ourselves, and totally screw with nature. The 'end of the world' is probably going to be the time religous people believe a godly being will descend and whatnot to save us.
I don't know, that's how I see it.

It is impossible to predict the time of the apocalypse.
For one, Satan gave his offspring the power to decieve anyone and anything. And as a result, anything or everything you read, or hear about could quite possibly be lies. Since only he knows when the time is to strike.
Another, the bible states that he will take control of 10 nations (thus the 10 horns that the beast has when he rises from the depths below) for only one hour. Enough time to creative massive amounts of damage and a war that will last 42 months (three and a half years) before hand however, the antichrist or the child of Satan, the deciever etc. Is supposed to rise to a place of great power and respect. Where he will say great things, and do great things to rally people to his cause. (All in the bible, it's a great book.)
So how can you see through a veil of a being that is more powerful than everyone on this planet combined? He is the very manifestation of everything we try to hard to contain within ourselves, but on a daily basis we fail. The best thing anyone can do is try to live their lives in the model Jesus Christ laid out for us. It is the least we can do since he died for all of us.
Or if you don't and the time comes. Not only will you not be one of the 144 000 thousand that know the song to ascend unto the rapture, you will die in the great war. And be thrown into a lake of fire and brimstone.
Yeahh....I have to know this stuff...I'm in an insane christian band haha...and we use this material in our songs sometimes :P
But that is my two cents

If you studied religion, or even took pride and took up a religion, you would know what certain thing is right and what certain thing is wrong.
People who do not believe..I don't have any problem with them at all. But if the bible, Qur'an, Kalevala, Tanakh, among many others hold true to their predictions, disbelivers, and those who do wrong with repentance will be thrown into a burning lake of fire and brimstone.

The world could've ended yesterday, it could end tomorrow. The world will end for you the day you die. The world's end? That will probably happen for us whenever we consume all of our natural resources.
HRBEK
07-07-2005, 01:23 PM
That will not happen without us over-populating. Those who live in third world countries tend to have eight children per family or something. They should not do so because so many of those children actually die. I believe that having so many children when you live in such utter poverty is insane.
Many of those children become refugees. You are very right [N]eto. This consumption of natural resources, coinciding with the destruction of natural resources may have us run out of resources quicker than we think.
Still you and I have nothing to worry about. Unless we live to be a billion years old.

That will not happen without us over-populating. Those who live in third world countries tend to have eight children per family or something.
It's a game of numbers, as a species we tend to pit everything against numbers, in a richer country, they don't need to worry about children dying, so they have fewer children (plus it is more expenisve) but in Third world countries, they need their population to grow, and have larger families because the majority of their family does not live as long as expected.

Yeah, I think your talking about how many non-religous people say the Bible states that Earth is much younger than it actually is. Of course, believers have their own arguments to how the Bible is correct. Whatever though. :rolledeye

yeah. thats what me and ^ were tryin to get across. if you can, refer to 'The Apocalyspe is coming!!1'. i just hate how sometimes science and common sense can make you think everything in your life is a lie...

Science is great but not everything is explainable. If you have faith that technology will reveal all of natures secrets than a technologist you are. But I believe that everything was made for a reason, by the voice of reason.

The same applies for religion. There are many things that religion cannot explain.

yeah actualy HRBEK has a point...just one problem...what created teh Big Bang Again?

There was no mention of Dinosaurs either and priests tried to suggest that Satan had placed the bones there as a trick. They have had to come to terms with the fact that Dinosaurs were real. Science is probably more accurate because we can see it. I am not taking a shot at religion, I am just saying that often, we have to have faith in ourselves as well and trust what people say (in this case Scientists).
Thanks,

There are many theories. The most popular being that a rock in space exploded and created everything. That theory is most likely, the correct one. I could explain how it made all of the planets, etc, but it would be very confusing, lol.

strange...I didn't think the big bang was just a "rock" that exploded one day...I thought it was a super dense form of matter that let no light, or matter escape until one day it finally expanded, and it still is today...but slowly it will begin to retract and it will collapse upon itself.
And about you saying that you can actually see science but not what religion, faith, and God are. All you have to do is take a look around you. Trees, grass, who makes them? Sure you can grow them, cultivate them...but the seed didn't come from thin air.
And why don't you just put Thanks in your signature?

You're not wrong. There was another theory that it was a super-dense piece of matter. As for the religion part, science has already explained how things came about. Religion also suggested that the world was only several thousand years old (which was obviously wrong) and that Dinosaurs never existed.
I'm sure you can see why I do not believe in God. I do respect all religions though.

i know this is slightly off topic and whatever, but i was listening to the tv going in the background the other week and i over heard them saying that the sun shrinks about 4 miles inward every year, when up until then i was always taught that it was growing larger...
maybe science isnt always right with these things... like, how can a random bit of dust suddenly come to life as a little thingy, split in half and both sides still be alive?
these little things formed a seed for a tree o_O
this post was random, so dont expect must more of these posts because i dont believe in any proper religion =D

Technically, he is correct. Besides I'm sure that he can see all of his Penguin Pals now, lol. Earth's demise will be a result of either the Sun expanding or because of humans.

Well, if what the book of Revelation says is true. The world will end when the Beast is allowed to take control of the nations, and at that point war will begin, and than God will come to destroy the nations, imprison the beast for 1000 years, and have 1000 years of bliss.
