im going to show you a neat effect that can be used for making pictures look like you drew them with colored pencils \o\

grab an image, any image should work, best if its color though :P
im using this one, mostly because its an awesome pic

http://img220.echo.cx/img220/5328/step14xs.th.jpg (http://img220.echo.cx/my.php?image=step14xs.jpg)

next, duplicate the layer with the picture on it and press ctrl+shift+u or image -> adjustments -> hue/saturation and set saturation to -100

http://img220.echo.cx/img220/8223/step29vi.th.jpg (http://img220.echo.cx/my.php?image=step29vi.jpg)

copy the layer (layer 1 copy) and invert it by pressing ctrl+i or image -> adjustments -> invert.

http://img220.echo.cx/img220/8113/step30my.th.jpg (http://img220.echo.cx/my.php?image=step30my.jpg)

change the blending mode of layer 1 copy 2 to overlay.

http://img220.echo.cx/img220/9858/step49tr.th.jpg (http://img220.echo.cx/my.php?image=step49tr.jpg)

now, copy the first layer (layer 1) and move it up the top and change the blending mode to color

http://img220.echo.cx/img220/6537/step51lk.th.jpg (http://img220.echo.cx/my.php?image=step51lk.jpg)

there you have it :)

oo
pressed print screen key and went into paint and pressed control + v, moved the little thingy so that only the layers bit was showing, pressed ctrl+a, ctrl+c, went into photoshop, and pressed ctrl+v
then just fiddled round with the effects \o\
