asterix for master system - need some help!

ive bin playing on the OLD master system on the asterix game, but im stuck! i think its level 2 or 3, its a level which u can go thru the level on land, or u can go underground to water (the walls around are blue). im stuck on a bit where there are two tall ledges with water, like this >> |-|_|-| i cant figure out how to get over the second ledge, i cant jump onto it from the first, and i cant stand next to it and jump up. there is a guy swimming in the water in the gap which spurts out water from his mouth - do i need to somehow use him to get over? ive tried jumping on the water but it only harms u. if ne 1 can help id be happy! although i bet no one even remembers this game its so old :P

yeah, if i remember right you jump onto the spirt of water and you can get across.
ill just go find out
(good thing i hooked up the system today =P)

It you can get up onto the bricks behind you, you can jumpa nd push the down button which punches the guy in the head and he dies. Then get back up on the brick behind you and throw a potion, (red one) by holding down so he crouches then pushing the punch or jump button and a potion should fall in the water. Now when the potion is in the water, its goes bang but the explosion doesn't hurt you. Stand in front of it after you have thrown it and then jump onto the wee spurt of water it creates. When up on that throw another potion and continue by jumping from spurt of water to spurt of water and eventually you get to a point where you can jump on to the next set of bricks and you basically at the end. It has to happen quite quickly.
This works through out the game like in the next level, you pick up the green potion at the start and then when you get to the lava, you can throw the potin to make bricks across it to get to th other side.
Hopefully that not to mumbo jumbo and you can get the hang of what i mean.
