Sony Computer Entertainment has unveiled the PlayStation 3 to the world at its annual pre-E3 conference, with an expected release of spring 2006.
The PlayStation 3 will use Blu-ray discs as its standard media format, which can hold up to six times as much data as current DVDs. It will also be backwards compatible with PlayStation and PlayStation 2 software, support current DVD and CD media and feature slots for a Memory Stick Duo and Compact Flash cards. The PlayStation 3 will also feature a port for a detachable 2.5-inch HDD.
Multimedia features include Internet access, video chat, digital photo viewing and digital audio and video support. The PlayStation 3 can also be linked to two HDTVs to display at 32:9 widescreen, or with separate functions split between the two screens.
The PlayStation 3 will support up to seven controllers using Bluetooth, as well as featuring Wi-Fi connectivity for the PSP and a further six USB slots for peripherals.

Sorry for double post but it's kinda needed.
If I could translate this to English I would. What you really need to know is this: backwards compatibility with PS2 and PSone, wireless controllers and a Spring 2006 launch.

No idea really what wi fi is at the moment but I do have some news regarding the PS3 hard drive and the price.
Sony CTO casts doubt on the possibility of a bundled hard drive - price worries surface. Recent comments from Sony's chief technology officer Masayuki Chanti, suggesting PS3 may not ship with a bundled hard drive, is currently causing a panic among those already fearful of a high launch price for Sony's new hardware.
In an interview with Japanese publication Famitsu, Chanti said that a decision regarding the inclusion of a hard drive in the PS3 launch package is "yet to be decided". This implies that the hard drive is perhaps not essential to the overall set-up as it is with Xbox 360, where the hard drive is a fundamental part of the system, only being detachable for the sake of portability and future upgrades.
Sony has previously talked of a detachable hard drive for storage, but has never suggested that it will be an obligatory part of the package - with the thought now being that Sony will treat the hard drive as an optional extra, like a memory card.
This raises extra concern regarding the price consumers are going to be expected to pay to enter the world of PS3 gaming. The machine is already assumed to cost more than Xbox 360 (with Microsoft's Robbie Bach publicly stating that Xbox 360 will cost less than PS3 to make) and any additions will push the price of entry even higher.
On the other hand, the omission of a device such as a hard drive may reduce the cost of the machine itself, perhaps bringing it in-line with Xbox 360's expected price (suggested by Microsoft figurehead J Allard himself) of around $300 which is equal to almost £200 in the UK.
£200? (UK) %300 (US) errr the PS2 was £400 (UK money) when that came out so for the PS3 to be cheaper just wont happen... will it? How much was the first PS2 in the US about 4 years ago?

Only $500 for a Playstation 3, I would have it in a second, but it's more likely to be upwards of $750 I reckon.
Thanks,
