Create a 3D Smiley
Just a quick carryon from Blaziken’s tutorial.
1) Create a new document – 200x200 px.
2) Make a new layer – Call it ‘Base’
3) Select the Elliptical Marquee tool.
4) Drag out a circle (Holding shift) In your document.
5) Show Selection (http://img32.echo.cx/img32/5979/slection19yt.jpg)
6) Fill with #F1EB4B
7) At this point DO NOT deselect.
8) Make a new layer – Call it ‘White Overlay’
9) Select white (Hit D, then X)
10) Select the Gradient tool, and check that it is set to ‘Foreground to Transparent’ (The drop down menu in the top left)
11) Drag a small gradient from top to bottom in your selection.
12) Show Gradient (http://img32.echo.cx/img32/5896/selection20be.jpg)
13) Press CTRL+D to deselect your selection.
14) Edit>Free Transform, and scale your gradient down a tiny bit holding shift. (Grab one of the corner boxes).
15) Take the opacity of that layer down to about 90%.
16) Make a new layer, take the elliptical marquee tool, drag a small circle the size of your similes eye and position it correctly.
17) Fill it with black, and the select the marquee tool again, hit Shift + Right or Left a few times to start making the next eye, and fill with black.
18) Now the complicated part, SEE THIS (http://img32.echo.cx/img32/4472/selection33qk.jpg)
19) Take a selection like above, then delete it so you end up with the small curved line like me! =D
20) Make another layer, called ‘Smile’
21) Make a circle selection smaller than your original yellow circle.
22) See Selection (http://img32.echo.cx/img32/6727/selection47ap.jpg)
23) Fill with white, then hit Shift + Up, 4 times, Then hit delete.
24) Right click the layer, and go to Blending Options. Then stroke, set a 1px stroke, at about 15% opacity. Do the same to ‘Base’
