As you know, homework plays a major role in our lives.
Recent studies have shown that the majority of students who do homework, actually perform better when not doing homework. This, naturally, is an indicator of the pressure that homework puts on students.
In fact, grades have increased from C+ to A- after homework was removed for some students for this study. What is your opinion?
Thanks,
HRBEK.

anyway; obviously i would like to not have homework, but some things that i get are quite fun, like art or drama and sometimes japanese (although im failing jap)
but meh..if i want to do those i can anyway =P
i would rather not have homework

If it is a subject that you enjoy there is no problem, but I think homework simply puts pressure on students, no matter whether or not they think the homework is easy.

I see that you are invisible when online. Are you a Moderator yet, if so well done. What do you think of teachers who give excessive amouts of homework?
Thanks,

no, sorry, i'm not a mod.
however, at college we are ment to do 30-60 minutes of homework for each period, and theres 7 periods each day (apart from some fridays where we have sport). that can range from 3.5 - 7 hours of homework a day. we only have either 3 or 4 subjects a day though, most of them lasting for 2 periods; and we are set different tasks for each thing.
i spend 7 hours at college already, i cant do 7 hours of work at home =/
i find it hard enough to concentrate as is o_O

I intend to go to University and I am dreading that, lol. Homework is really the main thing there. I am sure though that I will make it through.

University of New South Wales for me for studying the law. THe work involved in that is terrible. At school, right now, homework is bad enough!!!

I f*ck up all my homework anyway, unless it's something important...I would prefer to have no homework, as it really makes no difference to me or my education...Does homework really make a difference? Doesn't to me...Burn...!

As I said, an experiment was conducted whereby some students were given homwork and then tested and then been tested without homework (only with knowledge from class). The homework seemed to lower their grades by a considerable amount.

Trust me, if I had no work to do out of the classroom, I'd have straight A's right now (meaning the highest possible, for those who have a different grading system).
I'm currently attending summer school, and after a year of basically relaxing and doing very little to no homework, I must say my stress level has slightly increased during school hours, but only there. I do finish my work, though, and for that I'm happy and feeling as if I'm accomplishing something. However, I like the feeling of not having anything to do after school.
I do believe that if classwork stays in the classroom, everything would be fine. I'd have time to work and get paid, instead of wasting my time doing work that may not truly help me, while personally, I learn at school.
I wish high school was like college or university. You may attend the first and last day of class, and still pass if you did your studying for the exams and that's it, or homework is simply for practice (for those who choose to do it) and not necessarily mandatory and graded.

I think that teachers should organise their time better. Instead of finishing the session early, spend that time on doing more work. I do my homework, but it really frustrates me sometimes. Especially Commerce homework.....

Humber University, for their Jazz Drumming courses. :) You have to audition, that is it. And if you are good they accept you.

That is simply a spot. I'm sure that you have to practice at home.

Yes, and I do practice at home. And I also get lessons a lot from various Jazz Teachers.

Yeah that kind of counts as homework. If you enjoy something though, it cannot be considered as work.

I do my homework when ever I remember to take it home and dont start it till dark when I'm tired and frustrated. I have no were to concentrate so it makes it more difficult to work. I still manage to get no D's or F's, but barely. If you miss a homework it goes down a grade. I think no homework would be better out of school and in school because you would'nt be worried about how much homework you will have after school, less pressure.

So true. I think I would do a LOT better without homework.... That makes my grades go down the most. Everything else is pretty good, though.

So true Neto. So true. The thing that brings my grades down is incomplete homework or homework that I don't understand because I didn't understand the lesson. If there was no homework, my grades would shoot up.
oh yeah, sorry for the double post.

Right now I'm only in seventh grade, and still even the little kids can't get past that one homework assignment or the friggin' studying on the third day of school. Luckily, I'm, well... lucky only in certain aspects. I try guessing on my homework and sometimes i get A's or B's. I, of course, don't get any stress becuase I'm to busy friggin' laughing at the fact that I can relax and do fairly good at school the same time. Also, it's good to be one, little expert at handling stress without other help, like me!
