Yey its new thread time again! Yes i know it seemed like only yesturday i started a new thread.... it was yesturday!
Anyway! todays thread is understated, underated, underused, misunderstood pokemon.
That is to say if you know a pokemon which you belive can truly kick ass, yet has never been fully acreditied.
ill start one off.
i always give my pokemon a run in the battle tower, doubles battles, that way they can gain their ribbon and prove they are fit for battlin'
todays underused pokemon is
DUNSPARCE/ Serious nature/Serene grace ability, holding! leppa berry.
ancient power
ghost ball
ice beam
rest.
now dunsparce i hear you cry what is so good about him?
well ill tell. firstly his type allows him only one weakness: to fighting, this will come usefull later!.
serene grace doubles the chances of a move having an additional effect, for example ancient power has a 20%! chance of raising all stats, shadow ball has a 40% chance of lowering speacial defense and ice beam has a 20% chance of freezing.
why the leppa berry? simple to restore ancientpowers PP when it reaches zero.
dunsparce wouldn't be nearly so good if he didn't have a decent HP, but at 404 its on par with the highest in the game " save legends"
consider for a moment that you have had two ancient powers pull off, now you have a dunsparce with both attack exceeding 460! as well as both defences exceeding 460!, couple that with an hp of 404 and rest seems dreamy, now his normal nature actually helps! knowing that bar fighting every attack will have only regular damage.
well i hope you enjoyed my little piece on dunsparce, i look forward to others telling about their underused pokemon :)
PLEASE people don't post about dragonites, latios's etc, they are all well aknowledged lol
xx:)

You see, the only issue with that is Haze, among other moves that could destroy these stat changes, including Roar and Whirlwind (although they're not necessarily used much anymore).
Although, I must admit that I love Ancient Power (and Silver Wind). I have especially enjoyed it on Mew at times when it luckily ups its stats about 3-4 times.
Uhm...
A Mew with Cosmic Power, Softboiled/Recover, NightShade and SeismicToss doesn't seem too bad right about now. Especially one holding a cure-all berry. Too bad Cosmic Power isn't an option for Mew, I believe.
Give me a Pokémon that you would consider underated and I'll try to find a move set for it that would work well.

technically ur right mew can't learn it, however lol with mew supposedly being able to learn every tm i don't think it would look out of place if you hacked it on lol

What does underated mean?
[N]eto
07-27-2005, 09:51 PM
Means rarely used, or not as popular, like Dragonite, Salamence, Tyranitar, etc.
31pkmn, games such as Stadium, Stadium 2, and perhaps Colosseum, are able to recognize hacked moves. I had a Mew with a few hacked moves back in the day, and its name and moves would be in purple, instead of its normal color.
However, in XD, there is an option to teach your Mew quite a large number of moves that there are no TMs or Move Tutors for. Good news, I suppose.
I still wish I could teach Ho-Oh Sky Attack.

lol i taught my ho-oh aeroblast :)
sux about the hacked moves, i do understand why they want to keep the moves normal, but honestly " lol and i use this argument everytime": machamp learns flamethrower and deoxys doesn't lol, i soon lost all respect for the gamefreak move allocation systems lol

Well, you do get quite heated up if you work out too much, so maybe it makes some little sense?
Yeah, I taught Ho-Oh Aeroblast, as well. It is such a better move on Ho-Oh, to be honest.

you know thje reason why i lov high critical hit moves is this, if an opponent is busy iron defensing etc the critical hit bypasses it lol, glorious it is.
however my poor cosmic power shuckle has been on the receiving end of that a few times :(
bless 'im.
xx:)
"""EDIT"""
on that note shuckle is a bloody awesome pokemon, am i right here THAT SHUCKLE along with attack deoxys is the only pokemon to sport two of the games highest stats ?

Technically, Ho-oh is better off using Aeroblast than Lugia I believe. A critical hit with Aeroblast....... That would be devastating.
Thanks,

Actually, it's rarely used, but it does have decent stats.

Venusaur is commonly used mate. In fact it is among the most popular, hence it is used by a lot of people. It's popularity is deceptive though, as it is rather weak.

Alright, how many of you here trained a Charizard or Blastoise instead of a Venusaur? I'm sorry, but just because back in Kanto it was one of the three starters' third evolution does not make it popular.
Venusaur and Meganium aren't that popular. Sceptile is more widely used than both put together.
HRBEK
07-29-2005, 10:50 PM
Actually it does. When you like a Pok'emon, you want to use it, and as you use it, you learn techniques. That is how a good trainer comes about. I prefer Venusaur out of the three starters. When you start with a Pok'emon, that tends to be one that you use a lot and raise to Lv100 first.
Thanks,
HRBEK.

Yes, and I agree with you on that, but many of the many people that play Pokémon don't have Venusaur as their first choice. It is rarely seen in most teams, hence why I am telling you that its underrated, although its stats aren't half bad.
HRBEK
07-29-2005, 11:42 PM
The majority of my opponents either use a Venusaur or a Vileplume. If you do not faint them quickly, they can be a real hassle to defeat. However, Venusaur is really weak when it comes to Special Defence and that really does it some harm.
The people who use Venusaur usually have it for using Toxic or Stun Spore, etc. I guess our countries have very different views, lol.
Thanks,
HRBEK.

yes i must admit where i am venusaur is fairly common, specially with a moveset such as leech seed, sleep powder etc. more an annoyer than anything.
i must admit i can't stand it, i hate hate hate grass poison, almost as much as i hate dragon flying, only because there are so many of the damn things.

[N]eto, I do admit that Sceptile is also very common here.

I totally agree. My first run, I took charmander then i went to squirtle. I think I only picked bulbasaur once,to try him out. I don't think I have ever used chikorita before, I don't remember. I only used treecko once, and that's bacause I started out with mudkip on my game and I was using another game pak.

Shuckles that use Double Team aren't too hard to beat. I would suggest a Pok'emon with Sweet Scent. That is one situation that Venusaur can be helpful in. Sweet Scent and Toxic would deal with Shuckle. If Venusaur had Double Team itself, that would be good.
Thanks,
HRBEK.
