I have to do an essay at college and i need your help.
I'm interested in finding out your views on the use of violence and *** in computer games.
First can you say if your male or female, your age and roughly how many hours you spend per day playing computer games. (if you'd prefer not to don't worry about it)
How far do you think that 'violent' video games can affect gamers behaviour/attitudes?
How far do you think a game can go with violent themes before it becomes unnecesary?
In some games is the use of *** and nudity relevant/needed?
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Age:Between 13-17 (not telling)
Gaming: I play, ummm, maybe, 4 to 5 hours a day. Even more if its a good game.

Yes gaming effects gamer, young gamers that are age 10 & lower that are obsessed with games. I know someone who turned of this kids game because it was time to leave, the kid got angry & threw the controler at the parents face, it hurt. It also goes for TV shows.
How far do you think a game can go with violent themes before it becomes unnecesary?
I think you can play a violent game as much as you want, it depends if its a really good game or not. Example....I play GTA3, I think it fun shooting people & I put the More Gore cheat on, I think its funny & I have more fun.
In some games is the use of *** and nudity relevant/needed?
I don't think so, most likely it has nothing to do with the game, but its put in there. It does not effect the storyline so it is irrelevant.

Age:18
Gaming: I game about 4 hours a day maybe more somtimes.
Gaming in my view only effects the younger ones that want to copy an in game character and can also effect teenagers that skip school a lot or have mental problems. For example get a gun, steal a car... Game: Grand Theft Auto.
For the rest of us it is just a game and thats all it is!

1.
Violent Games can affect the person alot... they tend to get more violent which leads to beating up someone (even friend) soon to robbing a bank and shooting... killing..
2.
Violent games are fine but if it has someone ripping organs outta a corspe or organs flying everywhere... I really doubt anyone needs to see that..
3.
If retarded perverts go crazy and threatens us all... maybe..

You should definitly look into Jack Thompson's work. He is so incredibly anti-video games so it might help you see his insane side of things. He sure is "off his rocker". (it means crazy)

How far do you think that 'violent' video games can affect gamers behaviour/attitudes??
A lot. (Well, in some cases.) If a person plays GTA/violent game and goes and kills people, they can't sue/blame the game companies for it. That's their problem. They shouldn't have done it in the first place.
How far do you think a game can go with violent themes before it becomes unnecesary??
It depends on how much violence you like in a game. It depends on the person.
In some games is the use of *** and nudity relevant/needed?
If that's what the game is about. Again,It depends on the person.

How far do you think that 'violent' video games can affect gamers behaviour/attitudes?
I don't think that media violence of any sorts actually causes or inspires violence, but it does desensitize. A kid is a lot more likely to retalliate with a punch after knocking some guy out in a video game for 3 hours straight.
How far do you think a game can go with violent themes before it becomes unnecesary?
I think this is more the parent's responsibility. The parent should be the one to screen the games and choose what violence level they feel their child should be exposed too. Each kid is different and not equally suseptible to the effects. Along with that, kind of a side note, it's also their responsibility teach their kids morals and discipline the kids. I think if parents in general did a better job of that there would be less violent acts. While I think media violence can contribute, I think it's more of a scapegoat than anything else...
In some games is the use of *** and nudity relevant/needed?
No. Especially not in the way I've seen it in video games. It's not even artistic, it's just demoralizing...
Hope I was of some help...
