Cheat or play fair?

Do you think it is better to cheat on pokemon games or play fair? :cool:

Although I did vote in the poll in this thread, I think this thread it pretty much pointless, I've seen too many of the same thread.

well ive only cheated once, and that was to get a mew on yellow, and i don't realy have a game shark (i dont see the point) so ill just vote no.

nope and on ruby i got all my pokemon to lvl 100 without cheats

the only time i cheated was to walk through walls so it doesnt really count as cheating, but just for fun!

We don't cheat because we CAN'T get the pokemon to high levels. We cheat because, one, it's fun to impress our friends with impossible-to-get-pokemon ( :D ), two, some features in the game we find quite boring, and work on it because we've beaten the game so many times, and done it over and over-- that we need a change! Also- let's face it. Cheating at pokemon is practicly an addiction. :happy:

I agree with HRBEK, I cheated to get the Mew on yellow, and of course the cloning, but that was for trading.....I really didn't do it for the purpose of cheating.....

I say you should complete the game without cheating (prove yourself) and only then do you have the right to use cheats. If you are stuck in a game, look at a walkthrough (but don't read any more than you must). If you cheat to get through a tough area, you will be tempted to continue using the cheats. Hope that all made sense, lol!

there is a difference between cheating and hacking i think.

What i don't consider cheating is hacking for PP max (every poke in battle tower has max pp yet in game i would doubt you could even max out 3 pokes )

Cheating for gym badges or instant kills is pointless and i consider that the most terrible kind of cheating.

But simply hacking to start with fave pokes i don't see a problem, on one hand people will tell you legendaries are easily bought down by a variety of non legendary pokemon, IF this is the case then there is no shame in using legendary pokes to start! :D

I do hack for rare candy, anyone who wants to breed the perfect pokemon will undertsand EXACTLY why you need them.
You can'\t level them without giving them EV unless you use rare candy.
And you can\'t get a fairly accurate IV reading until you are about lv 50+

I think perhaps we should allow for a 3rd option which isn't cheating as such but enharnce,ment.

But all that said, who cares if you cheat ? Personally i figure its your time, it's your game it's your money WTF shjouldn't you cheat if you want to? :P

I like to play my games fair and legit once or twice, then I start a new game and hack the crap out of them just for fun, depending on the game length and cheat variety this might last me another month tops, then, depending on the replay value of the game, I may or may not start the cycle again

I, like a lot of people here will complete the game, start again then cheat a LOT.
but i will go against my friend with cheated pokemon just to see the look on their face when i use a lv 100 magikarp with Mind Reader, Sheer Cold, Fissure and Horn Drill!!! :D priceless :P:D

Cheats/ codes just give the game an edge after it's completion I guess. Most of us don't need to cheat, it's just a post-completion means of making the game more fun.

I don't cheat at all. Or hack for that matter. Dunno why; I just can't be bothered to go out and buy a cheat device all for the purpose of cheating. =/

I don't usually cheat, unless I need to. Like, I did the cloning thing, and I also cheated to get Mew. Otherwise I complete the game fairly. So yeah, play fair. Only cheat if you need to or something. :] I did the Silver thing. Start, choose pokemon, store in PC, save, but turn power off while saving. Repeat process until done. Anyway yeah, no, I don't usually cheat.
