Anyone notice the small dot looking Playstation emblem on the new DualShock 2 controller for the PS3? Yeah, now take a look at the Xbox 360 controller.

See that big Xbox emblem on the controller? *Gasps* WELL I'LL BE DAMNED!

Sony appears to be copying Microsoft. It's even been said in an interview with Kazuo Hirai, the President of SCEA, mentioned for us to "Think Xbox 360's guide"

So that is basically hinting that they took the idea from microsoft, and i bet it will be designed different yet work and function the same way. This is proposterous!

Anyone notice that?

The Sony emblem on the new controllers is actually a button.
If you press it, it will take you "home" (it's called the home button), which is more or less the same as on the PSP (the function)

Every Next Gen system Right now has a Home or menu Button. Even the nintendo wii.

Yeah, and plus the 'Home" button was first used by Sony on their first portable system, the PSP... So technically, the "Home" button was Sony's idea.

They never even said If it's a "home" button, All they said it was going to work like the Xbox 360's Dashboard. I doubt PSP had a dashboard... I never got a PSP honestly, I think it's trash...

*cough* Created by me. *cough* Kyah... I personally don't care if Sony's copying anyone or not. If they're copying someone, so what? It's their system to do what they want with it. If Sony wants to add a Home button, let them. If Sony wants to add a black and white button, let them. Like I said before, it's Sony's system and Sony's idea, so it's what they want on the system... Not what Microsoft or Nintendo wants... I mean, come on. Each system is unique in it's own way. I'd say how they're unique in their own ways, but that would take up the whole post.

Still I would never get PS3 now they are calling the Controller the PooS. the 2 o's resemble the ****og sticks *cough*created by nintendo*cough* which is the same thing nintendo did with the Wii, the two i's resembling players. i just feel sorry for the bad sales sony will face when releasing it

I'm buying the system, so yeah... Who cares if Sony's copying Microsoft or Nintendo? Not me... Does it look like I care? No. I like both Sony and Nintendo, and I'll buy both of their new next gen systems. I can play the Xbox/Xbox 360 over at my cousin's house so... Yeah.

*ahem* I hate to fuel the childishness arguing going on here but I'm afraid they did.
If you had ever read the issue of OPS2 when they did the controller in detail you would know that.

btw FEL the PS3 is set for worldwide release in November of this year.
It's already been pushed back from last spring so maybe for one Sony will acutally release it when the say they will.

The next-Gen war is between Sony and Microsoft, even Nintendo knows it, They said they don't concentrate on graphics no more, but just on their new abilities with their new controller (In other words they know they can't compete with Sony and Microsoft so they just go their own way)

Sony is gonna be awesome, Microsoft has awesome ideas and the online world is a beauty.

Haha, who cares if they take ideas or not, Playstation was a total revolution when it came out, PS3 is gonna be hella powerful.

Gamecube,Gameboy Advance SP, PS2, Nintendo DS, SNES,Playstation

i got my ps2 about four or five months after it came out from the video store down the road from where i live for around $260 second hand after someone returned it for having a scratch on the back of it (OCD for sure, heh)

just buy at the right places, wait a couple months, and i suggest that you carry on with the type of system you have currently (playstation > playstation 2 > playstation 3) so that you are technically saving money by not buying new games, since you can still play ps1 games on ps2 and you will be able to on the ps3 as well. (thats not to say you wont buy new games, that would be idiotic, im just meaning games that you already have/ cant get for the other system thing (heh, ya cant play ps1 on xbox360, [word for the slow]))

ok SNES, i got for my 5 year old birthday, playstation, my brother got it from a friend and gave it to me before he left, nintendo ds i got for birthday, ps2 i got last year for christmas. gamecube i got 2004 for birthday. gba sp i got from my friend. im not as gullible

Actually, I think I traded my PS1 in for a PS2... There's no point in keeping the old system unless it's the N64/SNES type thing... If the PS2 can play the PS1 games, there's no point in keeping the PS1.

Meh, Sony are smart and all. Greedy too. Just take a look at that "no trading in" deal they got going. Come on, who would be stupid enough to get the PS3 in the first place, let alone that thing with no HD output on the budget version, making the Blu-Ray completely useless. Unless of course you fork out money to go buy that stuff.

All I'm doing is making people aware of whats happening. I'm with the Bill Gates bum wagon...band wagon. way better for the customer, plus way cheaper (Xbox 360-$650>PS3 $1000). I could go buy the Wii and 360 for the price the PS3 is. But I wouldn't, Nintendo have broken my heart so many times I've run out of super glue.

Blu-Ray wasn't designed specifically for HD, and though admittedly, it plays a big role, Blu-Ray was designded so that there could be more information stored on the disc, thereby improving the game's length and quality (that's not the word I'm looking for)
I do think though, that it makes HD much more possible, as better graphics will need more space on the disc, but that is not why it was developed.
Also, one of the reasons it wasn't out last Spring was due to further Blu-Ray development, which will hopefully, help protect against piracy.

And, ehh, where did you get the info that the PS3 is $1000?

PS3 launches November 17th for Europe and the USA (YAY)
$499 for 20GB - £350 - 499 euros
$599 for 60GB - £410 - 599 euros

will stop trading, although it's good that it will stop any game piracy.

It wont stop the use of trading games... thats old news that wasn't true. However the Blue-ray disks are not as robust as DVD disks (alah 360 disks) resulting in disk read errors if the surface of the data disk becomes scratched to much. Game shops will have to careful checking the PS3 disk before a trade is made.
