Probably not. Here is the scoop i've picked up on Final Fantasy Thirteen, For those who don't know it already.
Well, it's schedualed for PS3 released of course. So far there are a few changes, both shocking and a little, catchy.
Battle system, Yeah, revamped (AGAIN) but how, is unknown as for now.
So far the cast features, a girl. Yes, a girl, a Gun Slinging fiesty girl. (Think, FFX-2) Who, in this particular trailer, takes out a whole train of guards, (Looks a little like Al-Bhed if you ask me). Though, that trailer is posted by somone here, but anyway.
Lastly, so far, It seems with the power of the PS3, Square-Enix is trying to wrap a few of the Final Fantasy games together, with familiar environments from past Final Fantasy games, just with that lush of power making it seem, more, fitting.
So far, everything is TBA, Release date, Multiplayer(Doubt it) But Not to worry as Square Enix is taking the role of both the Publisher and Developer, so you wont need to worry about a still newly developing title such as this to dissapear like many have before it. (Think Metronome City, Demonik, Yeah)

Will they ever stop?
"They'll be making these 'til the end of time. Oh I guess that I will pay for these new games 'till Doomsday. Doo doo doo doo...."
Yeah, every FF game thus far seems to have "a girl" in it. Thanks for the info, early information on FF games is always appreciated. :D

Have you noticed that the fingers of the characters are always the same? But no prob. maybe on the next gen systems they will find a cure for it!Otherwise I don't think they'll stop.Keep up the good work with the good games. That's what they do at Square Soft.
Omg agian with changing the battle? perxonally I'm glad they changed it from the X-2 one, because its was very annoying how you had to keep pressing att, and that you could never cast a spell in time to save your teamates. Personally I liked number XII battle becouse it was real time (sorta), and you dident have to load the battle seen over and over again when you ran into a monster, (thus, making it alot easier to run away), which i really liked because it jest gets anoying. I hope they don't change it.

FF XIII will contain two versions, FF XIII and FF XIII Versus.
One will be real time, the other will be turn based

wow three people veiwing the ff forum atm and im not reviving a dead thread even though the last post was before my birthday in september 18, and it's STILL on the first page, wow thats sad, do ppl just come here to look only now?
Anywho, the final fantasy games I've played(admittedly not that many but I've played enough of them to be here and semi know whats going on most of the time XD but every game i've played(number 1-3, tactics advance and revenant wings gives me the impression that they take a few npcs and make new characters and have a whole new storyline after every few games or so.
but they can't think of a better name for it besides final fantasy, so final fantasy it is, there also in, 1,2,3,and sorta in 12were crystals but they did different things, in 1 and 2 you restored the light, same game different people almost cloned storyline with different area and ending same objective
in 3 the crystals were giving you power to destroy a flood of darkness, we saw a return of cid in the third one he gives you one airship right at the beginning, which you blow up, gives you another, which you proceed to get blown up, then the other two you get don't blow up, but he didn't make them, some connection? hmmm... maybe he's not that great of an airship builder anyway, considering the two you get were from an ancient time over a thousand years ago, have more horsepower, have the ability to go over mountans that are just barely taller than you, he didn't make airships, he made hoverships with something like 2 feet of ground clearance if he ramped it off something XD
in 12 the auraliths were just big crystals that were absorbing the aegyls anima every time they summoned a yarhi which was used to fend off other yarhi which were being made presumably by the auraliths using the aegyls anime, eventually all their anima I think would run out and they would be killed
but in this one and the one before it they were vaan, penelo, and some friends, my point is they're not all connected, so you can think of 1 and 2 as 1 and 2 , with three they start all over, I don't know about the ones before 12 but I'm fairly certain that at 12 they restart with new people(cid is nowhere to be seen in 12 revenant wings, maybe cuz theres no extra materials for him to build you airships to blow up, but they still managed to destroy one right at the beginning by dropping it off a cliff XD)
so think of final fantasy as several seperate series that happen to share the same title because it's popular, sells better, and has a few NPCs in common
the main leaders are all blonde, and they all have a girl so they're not ***ist XD, number 12 revenant wings even had 2 main ones and 2 that joined up later =P so I guess if you call that enough for them to be called sequels, that and a vague connection to crystals in the later games(so vague they don't even call them crystals anymore in the latest games) and a somewhat closer connection in the earlier games
they oughta make another version of three where you're the warriors of darkness fighting the light
