Microsoft has scored another major coup in the next-gen battle, revealing today that both Pro Evolution 6 and FIFA 2007 will be available on only one next-gen format – Xbox 360.

The two eagerly anticipated titles will be released on current generation platforms, but Microsoft has secured a 12-month lock-out on the soccer games for next-gen formats. This will mean that neither Pro Evolution 6 nor FIFA will be available for PS3 or Wii.

FIFA 2007 is due for release on September 29th, with Pro Evolution Soccer 6 set to follow in October.

Microsoft are on a role now. These two big games, will affect sales like you said.

Get ready for BUFF to come and say why these are on the 360.

"a 12 month lockout" so they are only secure for pretty much that one title. Once they c hw crap their sales will be, it should jump right over to a multiplatform game once agen. I think that EA were 2 lazy to work with the motion sensing capabilities of the wii and ps3 which is why they did this.

I dont think the sales will be crap tho and if they are I doubt it will matter to much as M$ will have paid the dev's and publishers of FIFA and Pro Evo a lot of money to keep the next installment away from Sony and Nintendo... After 12 months tho it sounds like the contract will be up like you basicaly said.

Marketing strategy by Micrososft basically. Though i don't think it will be a good one people will just get another football game or keep with the prequel for a year. It may get a couple more consoles sold for the really hardcore but if such sales were to cover the cost they will have to pay out for the dividends to the publishers to cover sale losses i think is a bit optimistic on their part.

They may think they're being clever here but i think they're being selfish and instead of the gamers best interest they are more focused on their profit margins; which is fair enough its why they do it, but they need to think of PR aswell.
