I think we've done a thread like this before but they have either been closed or are just way to old to even consider using...
Currently running:
AVG:.. it works fine AVAST
Spybot Search and Destory... works alright
Spyblaster... seems alright
Windows Defender... might be ditching this
What everyone else running or what would you recommend? I'm currently thinking about a swap to AVAST and ditching AVG...

I have Norton Internet Security, AntiVirus and Firewall. Works pretty well. I have windows firewall activated as well.
I also have a spyware doctor program which I run once a month.
And finally I have a program called Registry Mechanic which runs every time I boot up.
It checks for any abnormalities in my resistry which I have had several of ( I ****ed up a few uninstallations :P)
My last computer got majorly ****ed though, I didn't realise it: but my protection hadn't been working for months. I had to completely format the hard drive >.< not fun.
This computer hsa been okay though (excluding the funked up registry and a problem with hard drive partitions, but that was the makers fault) because of what I use.
Oh yeah, when I run spyware doctor I run ad-aware at the same time (once a month).
I only run them once a month the get what the other stuff misses.
Every single Friday at 8:00, Norton runs an entire system scan which takes between an hour and an hour and a half.
Something that helps with spyware protection is regularly defragmenting your computer. It lets programs can much quicker if everything is in one place.
Maybe every two months I do a thorough check of all drives and, well, everything.
lol you might think all this is a bit extensive but I have my last computer for 10 years and didn't get protection for maybe 5 years.
It was seriously bollocksed by the time I tried to fix it and never really worked right.
this computer was alot more expensive (custom chose *everything*) so I don't want it ****ed up too soon, I only got it last February.
Most of this you can probably ignore :P but maybe some of it helped
I doubt it
