Languages are created through many years of culture, knowledge and feeling.
No translator can give you a good translation, except maybe for english, since it is the easiest language around.

i thought english was one of the hardest languages cause it has all of the silent letters and and stuff

~Felly~

You mean like... Meh, I don't know any English words with silent letters.

Flamefist95
10-31-2006, 01:45 AM
words like "four", "knee". the underline is the silent letter. also with the english language we spell things funny such as "school" along with the suffix "t-i-o-n" is pronounced "shun"

@Dead Or Alive- Shut Up (Unless you mean queer as in strange, then... dont shut up)

And I had heard English was the hardest to learn because so many words have multiple meanings, sounds the same but are spelled differently, etc etc (I dont feel like thinking right now)

Dead Or Alive
11-01-2006, 11:34 AM
((I meant strange))

I heard it's the hardest too cause words like... can't think of any now... oh yeah steak and stake they're two different things and they sound the same. And bear and bare etc.

Take it from me, it's the easiest language there is.

Multiple meanings? You think that's hard? Every language has words that have multiple meanings. Wait until you have to learn Dutch hahaha
English is nothing.

[N]eto

Written Chinese would be the hardest.

English isn't the hardest language, just the stupidest.
Latin is pretty tough, too.

i like in my japanese class we had to do some speaking test thingy (which i failed, always did =P) and some kid got one syllable wrong in a word and said 'MY COW IS HURTING!' instead of 'my leg is hurting!'

the teacher laughed at him.. then told us what he said one time when he wasnt there..

speaking of college.. i took my camera there today.. i got photos! i shall post some later (in the pictures thread, obviously)

Apparently, English is the hardest language to teach, but not as hard to learn as some languages - all tongues have their exceptions and little annoying things :P .
@ Ragdoll: You know, our language isn't actually that hard, the whole problem is that it's never taught properly in primary school. Tbh, I wish the gaelscoil in town was open when I started school.

@DOA: I'm not a violent person, or the kind to flame but ffs, you shouldn't hate your own ****ing language.
I'm aware that isn't violent, but don't provoke me

One thing I hate *about* my language however, is that so many words are Anglicised.
lol, I'd go much futher with this post and stuff I've already said, but CSI is on :P

I dont care if its easy or not. The Scottish eduction system should force the kids to be taught Gaelic, not English, as a primary language and have English as the secondary language (instead of French/German) as we all know that English is the joint most used language (the other is Chinese) in the world.
