Sony has at last set the date and price of the Playstation 3

As previously revealed at E3 2006, the console will retail for 599 euros (approximately $777) in Europe, but it will fetch £425 ($836) in the UK, AUD999.95 ($781) in Australia, and NZ1199.95 ($840) in New Zealand. To compare, the same model of the console retails for $599 in the US.

Which ever way you look at it, the UK, Oz and New Zealand are getting ripped off as its cheaper in the USA. I wont be getting one until I see Gran Turismo 5 in store and the console has dropped in price. Oh and people with a High Definition TV like me will have to shell out further money on a component cable because Sony are not including them in the packs apparently unlike M$ who did.

Wow. Bit of a rip off, 25 Euro for a cable for the TV :O. Guess they want to squeeze every £/$/AU$/Euro from everyone. The 360 is much better value for performance.

Im gonna do the same, wait till the price drops.

Teh, I'm waiting, even if it is cheaper here in the US... Although, you guys have more release games than the people in the US did.

I have to say Sony has done a sloppy job this year with their console. Can't settle on a price, didn't include the composite cable, and more expensive.

^ I'm inclined to agree with you phatty. They have not promoted the console in the way that MS and Nintendo have.

+1 definetely, even though I am undoubtedly a sony supporter.
And btw Phat, that has to be the most inteligently compiled argument against the PS3 I have ever read on this site, not like some of the n00bish bullshi+s I've read.
And tbh, it's the most agreeable

i got a ps3 recently and i'd hav to say that its not worth the $600. it has great visuals and really works well on my HD tv but 600 is just too much. there are no games out right now too. i mainly bought it so i could play my ps1 and ps2 games cuz i trashed my ps2 a while back. i'd say its worth about $400 but deffinately not $500-$600 thats just too much for the common gamer.
