you might have strum at a wrong moments, you might have gotten 100% notes but you also played extra

You need a good multiplier, at least 2.8 I think, use that star power! As soon as it's full, release it, play perfectly, then build it up to full again and repeat.
This builds up your score amazingly, and great score is what you need for 5 stars

if you hit every note you will get gold stars no matter what your score is unless you strummed an extra note

It is possible that she strummed an extra note, but if you hit every note it doesn't mean you get 5 stars, I've done it with a friend, we play co-op often, and we also got nothing wrong or extra and didn't get 5 stars once.

Ahhh I see, that didn't seem to matter in Career mode, guess it does in the co-op :rolledeye thank you very much, Appreciate it.
Thus far, we have GHII and 80's Encore. Although I like the 80's one, it's really not like the others with the extra songs to purchase etc...just seems like it was slapped on the market half done. :P I assume that the Xbox version is the same as the PS2 versions, ie: same songs and interaction. We plan on getting GH1 and 3 as well, eventually.
I have my daughter to thank for getting me addicted, she brought the 80's encore and a wireless guitar with her when she visited last month, "You'll love it Mom..." After 2 days of really getting into it she had to go back home and took her stuff with her, EBAY to the rescue! LOL With-in a week we had a wireless and the game, then my friends nefew let us borrow his guitar and GH2. And to think...I thought Spyro and Donkey Kong were addicting... :D

haha that is really good to hear, yes I know what you mean, the game is quite addictive.
And yes, there is a difference between GH II on PS2 and the Xbox 360 version, because the Xbox 360 has more songs on it and some other little extra's.
My friends keep telling me, Marco, aren't you a little too old to play on a plastic guitar? and I say: I'm never too old to do stuff like this ;)

;):D I get that all the time too, "Ren, aren't you a little old to be chasing ghosts and playing video games?" Never! eventually I may be, but not for a long while *knocks on wood* ;)

Sorry, but it is the score that gives the stars... has nothing to do with strums.

well 5 gold stars means no errors..playing an extra note is an error

Yep, so in coop mode not only have to have a perfect play but also need to get 150,000+ on the score. Torks us that we both have to time star power together my friend can't get the knack of the neck down, she is very hit -n- miss on that, ;) but she figured out how she can tap the button and we were able to unleash on time together Finally after quite a bit of practice. To us it's just a fun game but like any other game, it's fun to accomplish the difficult, it's all about the satisfaction. LOL Thanks everyone, this is a great site!

Thank you so much! :D After doing a lot of reading of walkthroughs one finally said outright that the point score was the largest part of the key to getting the stars besides playing a perfect song...sheesh...:rolledeye
vagamefreak: sorry this took over your thread, I know it was specific to a different subject, if a mod would be so kind as to move these responses to my original post under - Playstation 2: Topic: Guitar Hero II Co-op Need Help - I would appreciate it and I'm sure Vagamefreak would appreciate it as well. Thanks!

Done and done, nice idea it was, and with the new changes it was quite easy to carry out.
I'm glad you found the solution, that's what we are here for on this Forum, to help people that need the help.

We checked our scores and when we got the 100% without any extra strums on Shout at the Devil it was 128,147 which is definitely higher than 115,509 We even did it again and really paid attention and it Still stayed at 4 black stars. :rolledeye:eek: So we are really quite confusted now LOL Any other suggestions???

Was the average multiplier 2.8 or higher?
Vagamefreak

Yeah, I ran into those problems a few hours ago too. Me and a friend were playing Co-Op on Guitar Hero II for the 360, and we 100%'d a song on Easy just for the achievement..and got four stars. We didn't use star power though, so that could be the problem right there.

That's exactly what we were thinking too, yes a couple of times we hit the 8x multi and it Still stayed at 4 black, my friends nefew says that on co-op you don't get more than 4 black  ...that makes absolutely no sense though, anyone figure this out yet?
