She's one of my best friends. There's been so many things on the news about it and every time I come close to crying. I was getting called yesterday during class but because it was during class I couldn't pick up, so I messaged them asking what they were calling me for and her mum replied telling me that Megan was in a coma with a shattered leg, broken arm and a lot of brain bruising.

It's so sad, but all of her friends including myself know that she's a fighter and will be able to get though this, but for the while we're all a bunch of worried messes waiting for her to be able to see visitors. She's an only child and has always called me her big sister to which I tell her she's my little sister.

This article's the only one that I can find apart from ones in the newspaper, but she had the green to cross the road and the woman in the car went through a red light.

A TEENAGE girl is fighting for her life in hospital after she and her pet dog were run down while walking along a Gold Coast street last night. The dog died.
The 15-year-old is the third pedestrian run down by a car on the Gold Coast in 24 hours.

Yesterday, Southport State High Year 11 student Jye Strong was killed and a mate critcally injured when they were hit by a car while walking on a street in labrador. A 35-year-old woman has been charged over that incident.

The girl was walking with her dog in her home suburb of Biggera Waters last night when she was struck by a 4WD just before 7.30pm.

The dog died a short time later while the girl was taken to the Gold Coast Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

She had been crossing at the traffic light-controlled intersection of Hollywell Rd and Burrows St when she was struck.

It remains unclear who, if anyone, was at fault over the crash.

The forensic crash unit is investigating.

What I remind myself when I'm in a time of great trouble, is that life is like the lunar cycle. When it's the new moon and there's no light in the night, then you know that everything's about to start getting brighter, because it can't get any darker. Hope that doesn't sound too "self help-ish". Best of luck,

That is dreadful, I'm sad to hear that the dog died as well, innocent animals dying over the stupid mistakes of humans.

I hope your friend will recover Kelsi. If you need to talk, i'm always available

She will recover, but I just don't want her to be in pain or anything. I saw her tonight though. She's still in the coma but it means that she is getting better. She looks so helpless though.. And some of her hair had to be shaved and she was growing it long for the formal too. I hope she knows that I'm always there for her, I'm sure she does, but still

And thank you Marco =)

Damn.... Painful...

But seriously, I can't believe that somebody would do that... They obviously knew it was a red light. I damn sure hope she recovers and that the idiot who did this is convicted.

Damn idiot. Why the heck would you blow a red light? WTF? And for your friend Kelsi, I hope she recovers perfectly :D

that's terrible...i agree with Cid about the poor dog, it's not cool that it died because of human ignorance...

You have my deepest sympathies, I hope she gets better as soon as possible, and I hope that the gal that ran the red light is charged, eventually. Our bodies are amazing things, she's gonna pull through. Hey, I'll dedicate Let it Be to her, when I sing it. As a get well gift.;o

^ Thank you, that's really sweet

Last night she took a turn for the worst, she's got an infection in her blood that they're trying to find where it is from. they suspect some dog hair is in her leg where her leg had broken since it was a compound facture and thus the bone broke the skin.

I am truly sorry to hear that has happened. It is such a shame for a person to drive off after hitting her and her dog. I hope your friend recovers.
