Hey in case y'all didnt know i have a website for the psp. Instead of advertising I will just post the guides here! That way we can all be on one forum and you can hack your psp. O btw can i be banned for posting guides from my website? I dont want to advertise I just want to help people with there tech problems with the psp.

First guide: Installing cfw (custom firmware) You will need this to play any of the games I post here, and hombrew.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
First you will need a pandoras battery. There are two ways of doing this.
#1 Hard-modding
#2 Soft Modding

Soft Modding is easy, but hard modding is hard. If you know somebody that has custom firmware (cfw) installed they can help you create a soft modded pandoras battery. I will show you how to make a hard modded battery. I have had bad experiences soft modding a battery. SO BE WARNED!!

You will need to have these materials to make a hard modded battery: A sharp knife, a safety pin, and a real Sony psp battery. You will need a safety pin because they are small and a normal pin won't work. Take your knife and cut through the sides of the battery. Make sure you go through the plastic because you will be opening it up. Don't cut yourself I have done that carelessly before, this takes time about 15-30 min. of cutting depending on how good your knife is. If you start to lose patience, just set it down and relax for awhile. It gets frustrating! The top part of the battery will come off after you cut it open. Take out the 4th pin here is a link to a picture that shows you where the 4th pin is. They will look different depending on what battery you are using.

Here is the PSP Slim battery pic.

Here is the Original PSP battery pic.
http://www.techknowsupport.com/brin/files/battery_phat_pinfive.png

Take the safty pin and lift up under the circled pin until it pops out.

If you open your psp battery up and then you see this on the top of the battery then ask me for help. I tried to get a picture of that battery I just couldn't find one. My advice for a pandoras battery, would to have two battery's because when you "pandoraize" your battery you cannot use it as a normal battery ever again. If you plug you psp into a wall using the charger WITHOUT the modded battery in, turn it on and then put the battery in you can use you battery normally until you turn it off.

After you have modded your battery it is now officially a PANDORAS BATTERY!!!

NOTE: your memory card HAS to be Sony and it needs to be more 512mb or it WILL NOT work!!

To install the firmware you need a program on your memory card. This program makes your memory card a "Magic Memory Stick" or mms.

First you need this file:
http://www.zshare.net/download/506425677b8933d2/

after you have the downloaded files we will make a magic memory stick! ( the easiest part)
- extract the The File You Need.7z to your desktop (use WinRAR)
- Open README 1st folder
- highlight and copy MSINST and MSPFORMAT FOLDER
- open My Computer
- Left Click the C: drive once (Note: if you double click, it will open C: drive)
- Now RIGHT Click on C: drive and PASTE
- format your memory stick thru your psp (Settings>System Settings>Format Memory Stick)
- once that is done, enable USB mode
- make note of your drive letter (usually E: or F)
- open up command propmt (click Start, select Run, type in cmd and hit enter_
- Type in the following command "CD C:\" (note: with-out quote mark) HIT enter
- type the following command "mspformat\mspformat.exe X" ( where X=psp drive letter) note: NO quotation
- hit enter button
- hit Y, then press enter
(for some people who are confused on this part, here is a side note: guess i wasnt clear enough, you type mspformat\mspformat.exe E if your drive letter is E, if it is another letter use that letter, then press enter, then hit y, then press enter again...sorry
- it should say "Drive succesfully formatted, and partition moved."
- disable USB mode, and take out the memory stick
- now re-insert the memory stick, and re-enable(this guide was made by hercules on pspmod.com) USB mode
- Now go back to the Desktop where you extracted the folder "The File You Need"
- double click it
- open the Despertar v3 folder, and copy its contents to your psp (just the contents, not the actual folder)
- now go back to your prompt window
- type the following command "msinst\msinst.exe X msinst\msipl.bin" (again where X=psp drive letter) note: NO quotation
- press Y and hit enter
- The last line should say " Write MS BOOT CODE "
- then type exit and enter
* you now have a magic memory stick!

Okay now you are ready to install cfw!!!! You made it this far so lets see if you did everything right. If it doesn't work then ask me any questions you have and I will try to answer them all.

Okay so first charge your battery for a while (without the memory card in). After about a hour or so depending on how full your battery is It is time! (your battery has to be at 78%) Pop in the pandoras battery, then put the battery cover on you DON'T want the battery to fall out!! Put in the magic memory stick. If you see a menu come up that makes you feel more NERDY than you were before... THEN YOU ARE GENIUS!!! Okay press the "x" button. See that text FLYING down your screen? (loading PSAR to RAM takes the longest, so if you see the orange lite flashing at the opposite of you power button. It is working) Then IT WORKS!!! yay!!!
Keep looking to see " install complete press X to restart" Well press X

After this whole process is complete, the PSP should restart. Put in normal battery and then check your psp's firmware. It should be 3.71 m33-2.

-----------------Updating your psp-------------------------
NOTE: To open the files you need a free program called WINRAR you can find it here. http://www.win-rar.com/index.php?id=160&dl=wrar380.exe

First I am assuming that you have custom firmware, and you need the latest update. This is a link to the latest cfw available at this time. (you need to get both of these downloaded)

4.01m33 files- http://www.zshare.net/download/5073295703d018a3/

4.01.pbp file- http://www.zshare.net/download/50732903d53f1fd8/

Once you have the files. Open the 4.01m33 file. In there you should see a bunch of files. Take the one that is named UPDATE and drag it onto your desktop. Ok now you have the file on your computer. Plug your psp into the computer and put the UPDATE folder in
psp>game once it is in your psp open the 4.01.pbp file. Save the file to your desktop. Now take the file and put it in the UPDATE folder on your psp. On your psp exit usb mode and go to game. You should see a icon that says M33 run it and there you go, you installed the latest firmware! After that check your psp's firmware, it should be 4.01m33.

You should update even further by downloading the 4.01m33-2 update here.

http://dl038.zshare.net/download/30dc150d20fa35cf6310962508a20ab7/1225516178/50732943/UPDATE.rar

(Updating the PSP like 3.71m33 and then a dash - means they have fixed bugs in the firmware. The first revise will be -2 and then -3 and so on)

Take the folder UPDATE and put it in you psp at psp>game Then you will run it like you did installing 4.01m33 only it won't take but about 10s. Always check for new updates for your psp, and install them like you did here.

------------Installing Plugins-------------

Well first off if you open up files or folders to put in the plugins folder, and they are not already on your psp's seplugins folder, than you can just click and drag all of them into your psp's selpugins folder. You can then turn off your psp by taking out the battery and putting it back in or holding the POWER button UP. Turn your psp on while holding the "R" button. The m33 recovery menu should come up. Scroll down to the Plugins option and enable all of them.

If you already have the TEXT FILES in your psp's seplugins folder than listen to the rest of this guide. If you didn't have them already on there you are DONE!!! YAY!!!

Okay here is the part of the guide for the people that already have the TEXT FILES. First you enable your psp's USB Mode and then open it on your computer, then open the seplugins folder. Lets say you have the folder GAME and you want to put the pluging GAME in there. Well you dont overwrite it! You open the GAME folder you want on your psp and copy the text in there. Here is an example of what it will look like. :
ms0:/seplugins/cwcheat/cwcheat.prx

Okay then open up the GAME folder on your psp and paste on a separate line what you copied. So it would look like this now:
ms0:/seplugins/cwcheat/cwcheat.prx
ms0:/seplugins/screenshotbmp.prx

Now I say text files in ALL CAPS BECAUSE YOU CAN OVERWRITE OTHER TYPE FILES AND FOLDERS BUT DO NOT DO IT TO TEXT FILES!!!!

Now exit USB mode and turn off your psp by either taking out the battery or holding the POWER button up until it turns off. Then turn it on holding the "R" button. The m33 recovery menu should appear. Scroll down to Plugins and enable all the plugins. YOU ARE DONE!!! YAY!!!

----------------------Playing ISO or CSO games--------------------------
First you have to understand that this is illegal if you don’t own the game. To get a game on the psp’s memory card it has to be in CSO or ISO format. Let’s say you have the psp game Monster Hunter Freedom. You want to be able to play it without the UMD disk in. First you put the disk in and let it load, then you press the SELECT button. A menu should appear. Scroll down to USB device. Use the left arrow button to select the different USB drives. Go to UMD Disk and plug in your psp to the computer. When you look at the files click and drag the data onto the computer. Exit the USB mode on the psp, and press the SELECT button again, scroll down to USB Device, and select Memory Stick. Go to USB mode and then on the computer open the psp files. You should see the folder PSP. Do not open any folder. You should see the ISO folder if it is not there make a new folder called ISO. Drag the UMD data from the computer to your ISO folder. NOTE: This does take up a lot of memory. Once it is completed its copying Then exit USB mode and go to GAME. You should see the full game on your memory stick. If it does not play than press SELECT and go to UMD ISO Mode. Select the m33 driver. It should work now.

-----------------------Screen Shot------------------------
http://www.zshare.net/download/5073317447a60e5d/

Screen Shot lets you capture what is on your psp’s screen as a picture, and saves it. You can look at all the pictures you have on your psp and the ones you took with Screen Shot. Installing Screen Shot is very simple because the only files in the folder are plugins. To take a screenshot then press the "note" button or the "music" It is the 5th button to the right in the bottom bar of buttons on the psp. ( where the home button is)

-----------CWCheat---------------------------------
This app. lets you turn on some good cheats for just about every game out there! Here is what you need, the file

http://cwcheat.consoleworld.org/downloads/index.php?act=view&id=31
INSTALL IT ONTO YOUR PSP: Hold the power button down until the psp turns off. Then turn it on while holding the R button. The m33 recovery menu will appear. Go down to the plugins option and enable everything in there. Okay once that is done start your game that you want to "hack" and then once it starts, hold down the SELECT button. Seclect enable cheats, and then the cheats you want on. Have Fun!!

okay once you download it, open it using WinRar. You should see alot of files in there. Find INSTALL_371 open it. Drag the seplugins folder onto the root of your memory card. (The root is also called ms0. You know you are in the root of the memory stick when you see the folder PSP.)

IF YOU DON'T ALREADY HAVE THE SEPLUGINS FOLDER THAN ONCE YOU PUT IT ON YOUR PSP YOU ARE DONE!!

IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THE FOLDER CONTINUE TO READ MY POST!!

If you have the folder already than open the seplugins folder in INSTALL_371. You see all the folders in there? Drag them all to your seplugins folder on your psp.

IF YOU DON'T ALREADY HAVE THE SEPLUGINS FOLDER THAN YOU ARE DONE! IF YOU DO THEN READ ON!!!

Sometimes you will already have the files on your folder. If this is the case than, drag the cwcheat folder into your seplugins folder. Then you drag the text files you don't have into the seplugins folder. Lets say you don't have any of the text files except for the game.txt file. Open the file game.txt up, once you do you will see this: ms0:/seplugins/cwcheat/cwcheat.prx
highlight all of the text, and then right click it. Click on copy. Go back to your game.txt folder in your psp's seplugins folder. Then start a new line below the text that is already in there and paste in ms0:/seplugins/cwcheat/cwcheat.prx You are DONE!! You can now run the app. in your psp!

I WILL DELETE ALL MY POSTS IF THE MODS OR THE GENIE DO NOT WANT ME TO POST MORE THAN ONCE (the double post rule BUT ALL THIS WAS TO BIG FOR JUST ONE POST
