Question about Xbox Live

How do I pay for Xbox Live? I think Im going to get it this weekend if I can get an answer and everything in time. I just dont know if Im supposed to send money in to the company or something or if I hook it up and at the end of the year I pay on a bill. Or is it neither of these?

With the Xbox360 you can go into a game store... probably GAMESTOP in the US? and buy a 12 months Xbox Live subcription card. However when you first connect your Xbox360 up to the Internet/Xbox live you should get a free 1 month XBL Gold account. After this time your account goes back to a silver account.

I already got a free month when I first hooked up the 360. And cant you buy a Gold Membership? How much are these, I think Gold is 55 US dollars right?

Me and my friend are most likley going to the mall next weekend to get me Live. I keep trying to convince him to buy it for me but all he's worth is making random Gamer Tags. :P But Ill soon get it.
