Yep, that's right! The long awaited GSDS remakes have been annouced! Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver are their names and they will most definitely be for the Nintendo DS. The games are scheduled to be released on or around the original release dates of Pokémon Gold and Silver of this year. That's sometime in November for Japan. Everyone else gets it in 2010. Also, rumor has it that your starter Pokémon will follow you around throughout the game. Dunno if it's true or not, but it'd be interesting to know if it was or not!
Discuss? :)

Seems like you get starters to follow you. But apparently this is some kind of graphic hack, as some random guy stated. I don't personally care, this seems pretty probable in the remake. Though I haven't really heard much, apparently the female protagonist Kris (or whatever the hell you guys call her these days) who made her debut in Pokemon Crystal is apparently not appearing in the remakes, at least as a playable character. They're gunna have some other girl replace her, which makes sense I guess, since Kris only appeared in Crystal, not in Gold/Silver.
Well, this gives me even more reason to get a DS.. Or DSi.

Well, the RBY (well, actually just Red and Blue, but you guys know what I mean) remakes were on the GBA, so it's understandable that the GS remakes would be on the DS.
But I saw what the female looks like in the remakes. D: She's wearing overalls. No 1.5-2 inch miniskirt for the guys to look at. The females look better in short miniskirts. :< It's the truth.

Well, hopefully they change that.
To say the least, I am uber excited. ;)

@FEL: Techincally, they were remakes for RED and GREEN - BLUE was infact the enhanced, third version of the two.

I'm quoting this because THIS is exactly what a pedophile would say, word to word. Seriously, I'm quite amused that this came from FEL, out of all people that I possibly know.
The new female character's name is apparently Heart. I dunno why.. But she reminds me of Mario. I mean seriously.. Overalls? Red? Pigtails that vaguely resembles a mustache? (At least, in my distorted perspective.)

ACK! I hate this! the originals were so great that they dont need these remakes....you know why firered leafgreen sucked...It was because it was the same game we've beaten 20 times, but with new non-nostalgic graphics....i'll take r/b/y over fr/lg any day! plus are they keeping those crappy psudo 3D graphics...all pokemon games should always be 2D... The sprites are a work of art, and its a shame their slowly disapearing. who can tell me that the 3D mario in new supermario brothers was good, because I would rather have had a sprite

I think it's the storyline and places that makes it nostalgic. Not the graphics. Maybe that's just me. =/ The originals were good too, but I think I'd get a remake just for the heck of it. It's kinda weird though. How they're releasing it almost a year after Platinum. That's a bit too soon, don't you think? [It may be a full year or so. I don't remember when Japan got Platinum.]

I'm surprised it came from me too. It must be the people I hang around, both online & offline. xD But in all seriousness, ever since they started letting female characters be an option in the Pokémon games, they've all had short miniskirts. It would be a horrible shame to let the tradition disappear now. =/

LOL, Felly are you perving on virtual 2d chicks? tsk tsk, lol

No because I'm female and as such would make absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. =/ It's only an obvious portion of their outfit.

Hold on a minute here. Didn't the first playable female character that was introduced in the series wore shorts and not a skirt? And among the five female playable characters we now have, aren't there like only two who actually wear skirts? o_O
What tradition are you talking about?

I actually heard that you can change the costumes in platinum and considering HG & SS come out later...

I stand corrected on that. I forgot that Kris (the female character from G/S) wore shorts. =/ It's been such a long time I touched one of those games I couldn't remember. But May, the female in FR/LG, and Dawn all have miniskirts. (Well, D/P Dawn has a miniskirt. The one in Plat looks like she has a dress on. =/)
So the tradition since R/S/E, I guess. xD

Anyone know if this is even worth getting because now it seems that the Pokemon is going too out of hand and I am getting kind of tired of these games so Im leaning on not getting this one.

Nintendos motto seems to be 'If it aint broke dont fix it'. unfortunaely all the pokemon games for the last 10 years have been pretty much the same

I'm actually one of the only people that want a full series revamp
I want them to tweak the formula a bit..just imagine if when the other poke attacked, you could attempt to doge... it would change the entire game!

Yeah and make it that much more frusturating. I mean, I always got mad when I barely hit the oppenents pokemon in the first place and now if they can dodge it?

A dodging feature? It seems rather pointless, if not potentially tedious and uncanny. The current RPG formula is fine, it's what most people are used to. If they suddenly made a drastic change to the gameplay, people might get completely thrown off. I mean, imagine if in Super Mario Bros., B was jump and A was to run/carry objects or in Contra, you had to take out your gun everytime you wanna shoot. That would really screw people up and ultimately piss them off. There shouldn't be changes, just additional features, otherwise people just get annoyed - unless of course, the change is seen beneficial and necessary. I personally would perfer if they sharpened a bit more on the graphics used in battle, just to make it seem a bit more busy, animated and thrilling, rather then sprites that only have a few frames of animation. Sides, technically, you can make attempts on dodging attacks. Just use sand-attack, one of the most obnoxious moves in the series.
Actually, I kinda wanna see Pokemon being featured in an action-genre game, rather then just being stuck in the adventure/RPG category. Doesn't a Pokemon fighting arcade-styled game sound like a fresh idea? Look how well the Pokemon characters turned out in Brawl. That would be a very nice spin-off game, instead of the lame ones like Mystery Dungeon or that freakin Ranger game. No offense, to anyone who likes those games..
@Fel: And I believe May wears cycling shorts.

Well, I just got this in, but a friend of mine showed me a scan of Heatran possibly having a new form. Dunno if it's true or not, but check it out anyways. :3

^That link doesnt work for me...
^^Thats a really good point. I would really hate any major changes where I would have to work more like anyone else. I think a game like Brawl with just Pokemon characters would be kind of pointless because why buy Pokemon Brawl when you can just have Brawl with characters from other games. Unless they added some kind of story line.

I don't think people care about the storyline in fighting games, dude. I know I don't. But I think your missing a few points here. First off, I didn't exacly mean that they should make a Pokemon fighting game using the same engine used in Brawl, because as you said, it's kinda pointless. It would only serve to please the Pokemon fanatics who wanted more Pokemon involved in Brawl. I only simply stated how well the Pokemon characters played in a fighting game, therefore Pokemon could have it's own fighting game, something to keep the veterans busy with the franchise while also sucking in newcomers into the series. The Pokemon fighting game would feature more Pokemon as playable characters, each with their own individual movesets, rather then having most of them being assist-types much like in Brawl. Brawl was limited on taking the important characters from each franchise, which significantly limited the selection for Pokemon characters. I mean, let's face it - majority of the Pokemon listed in the Brawl roaster is just ass. (There were also other characters that were kind unworthy to be in the game as a playable character.)

Some people care about the storyline. I mean, imagine people without Live or PSN.
And really how much different can you get from Brawl or something of the type.
I also remember some kind of Pokemon game where you just fight pokemon with pokemon like what we're talking about but I forget the name of it. Maybe Dual Arena or something. I was really young when it was out so its hard to remember.
