i read somwhere that they are, in fact, going to merge.

here's an update:
UPDATE (01/14/2003): According to Bloomberg, the terms of the merger, more specifically, the terms of the exchange rate of the stock of the two companies, have been changed so that they are more favorable to Square. Now, 1 share of Square stock will be exchanged for .85 of a share of Enix stock when the merger occurs.

havent you heard when the merger comes enix is going to take over the making of the FF games IN OTHER WORDS A LOT OF THE PEOPLE WHO WERE ORIGINALLY INVOLVED IS MAKING THE FF SERIES ARE GOING TO END UP BEING FIRED!!! and then replaced by some guys from enix who will end up morphing our beloved ff games into some EVIL FinalFantasy/Dragon Warrior crossover!!!!!!
