More Important News On FF X-2

1. Battle System

Final Fantasy X-2 uses an enhanced version of the classic Active Time Battle system, in which each action will require variable length of time to complete. For example, using an item takes very little time comparing to casting a spell, some special skills also take more time to execute than regular attacks. In addition, the battle order panel from Final Fantasy X (located in the top right hand corner) will return as well, which lists the order of action between your party and the enemies.

A new Attack Chain System is also included in Final Fantasy X-2, which allows multiple characters to chain attacks. The chain attack usually initiates by Yuna's Quick Trigger command. During the battles, each character can use the Dress Up system to change into different outfits and job classes by pressing L1. Confirmed job classes include Gunner (Yuna), Thief (Rikku), and Knight (Pine).

Paine, the 3rd main character of Final Fantasy X-2, is a member of Rikku's Sphere Hunter Team. She is a cold and reserved person, never revealing her feelings to others and is cruel in her ways.

About the Costume
Nothing much can be described about her custome, other than the fact that she wears more clothes than both Yuna and Rikku. Another thing that caught my attention is that both her custome and attitude is similar to Squall's.

YUNA

Unlike the previous Yuna in Final Fantasy X where she became the summoner to fight Sin for the sake of peace and harmony in Spira. This time, she will be going out on a journey again with a different perspect for herself.

About the Costume
The costume she's wearing in this series is specially prepared by Rikku.

Unlike the previous summoner clothes that she wore. Wearing this kind of costume will let her to be more active in action.

This familiar face from the previous title is Rikku, an Al Bhed girl who's responsible for Yuna's new adventure. She's still the member who brings joy around the party.

About the Costume
Like Yuna, Rikku wears a new set of clothes. Her clothes matches her style of active and free personality.

LE BRANC CONSPIRATOR

Le Branc Conspirator is a Sphere Hunter Organization. They are also known as the biggest group in Spira. The group itself consists of Le Branc (Middle), Uno (Right) and Sano (Left). From the image and the name of the Organization,
it is clear that this group is lead by Le Branc, she is the one who will be giving orders for the group.

Le Branc Conspirator is considered to be a rival to the Kamome-dan (Rikku's Sphere Hunter Organization), but still, they are not regarded as a serious rival.

4. MISSION SYSTEM

Mission Select
Mission Select is the main game system that'll be leading Yuna into all kinds of new adventures. Yuna and Co - The Kamome-dan - is able to fly from one place to another using their Airship "Celsius". Each mission has it's own episode and it can differ the way the story flows. The key point of this system is that some missions enable the Players to select options themselves making it flexible.

Active Link
Through missions, Yuna will find new connections towards her story, called the "Active Link" which will open up the door to new missions and episodes. Players can create a story of their own by selecting different missions as they play on through.
Unlike Final Fantasy X, the players are able to visit the major places from the beginning of the game. Gathering Information is as easy as select a place and fly! Even if the place visited has no information that are important, it is still possible to go for a side walk, looking at the old faces around Spira.


5. TRANSPORTATION
Thanks to the Al Bhed tribe for their Technology. This time, they bring us a new and fancy Airship called "Celsius". You will be using it to travel around the world of Spira. Other than the name and the fact that it is able to transform into other forms, not much is known about it at this time.

The transportation in the game is also very different from Final Fantasy X in the sense that it is no more linear. Final Fantasy X-2 gives you the freedom to explore all the areas of Post-Sin Spira from the beginning.

According to various sources, Final Fantasy X-2 is set to be released in Japan on March 13th 2003. Prior to this, Square had only had mentioned that the game would be available sometime in March.

Square EA LLC has yet to announce a release date for the game's US version.

Dress Spheres

There are different "dress spheres" and there is an information box beside those spheres on the character status screen. The information box holds data on all the abilities the character has learned for each job. And as usual, there is a help box which gives you instructions as to what you are looking at as you move the cursor with your controller. For example, if Yuna has the job of "Gunner" then she holds abilities such as "attack", "quick trigger", and "item". The character status screen also reveals what status effects or elements the character has on him/her.

In the DressSphere menu, the abilities are listed for each character alongside how much MP they take. Many abilities are restricted until you obtain a certain amount of AP (Ability points). Therefore, the more abilities you use in battle, the more AP you can obtain to unlock more abilities. Some cool ablities to unlock are "Magic Shot", "Power Shot", "Quick Trigger Lv. 2" and more.



Job Classes

Final Fantasy X-2 varies many of these abilities by what your character decides to wear. Ability Points earned in battles will power these up, and the game's menus will show a completion percentage next to each individual's dresses and jobs. You can even earn abilities during battle. Unlike many games, the main characters will change in appearance based on their job, at least in battle.

Here is sample of the abilities that each class learns...

Gunner
.: Fight: Basic starting ability.
.: Power Shot: Hits an enemy every time.
.: Magic Shot
.: Burst Shot
.: Hard Shot
.: Reverse Shot
.: Blind Guard: Guards against the Blind ailment
.: Gunplay
.: Quick Trigger: Mastered in advance, allows you to attack the number of times you press the R1 button within a limited time, creating chain combos. It can be raised to Level 2 variety.

Gambler
.: Double Dice: The character rolls two dice and deals the the sum in damage. If the same two numbers are rolled again, the player deals double damage.

Dark Knight
.: Darkness: Leeches HP from a character but deals it in damage to target.
.: Demonic Craft
.: Take Down

White Mage
.: Cure: Similar to Final Fantasy IX, cure can now be cast on your entire party or a single member.
.: Pray

Thief
.: Steal Will Power: Makes the target enemy lose the will/courage to fight and forces them to flee the battle.

Black Mage
.: Black Magic
.: Concentrate (Something like Final Fantasy IX's Focus)

Warrior
.: Gravity Sword: A regular strike bound with the element of Gravity.
.: Flame Tan: The same as Gravity Sword, Flame Tan retains the power of fire.
.: Armor Break: Lowers the target opponent's defense.

Ok someone run the storyline by me again,i read it about Tidus being in a jail cell and Yuna going after him but that doesnt really make a whole lot of sense after the way the last one ended with him kinda "not being real".

tidus is transported back into the past by sin with auron and his father was sent back 10 or 20 years be for that or summit like that.
then he meets wakka and becomes yunas bodyguard and swears to kill sin so he helps yuna kill him and he gets sent back in the past and then some holy **** goes down and thats basicly all i no.

Go get yourselves a copy of Official US Playstation Magazine, Dec 2003. Has a playable (albeit short) demo of two missions from X-2

If you don't want a teaser, OPM reviewed it in the same issue, so the game should be out here (USA) very very soon.

From the demo, this game is quite interesting. There are no summons, but the game makes up for it with the dress shperes and the changing. You see, you do it in battle, so it shows them changing from what they were to what you pick for them (heads out of the gutter, gang. The game is rated Teen, not Adult!). Not as spectacular as the Aeons from FFX, but it works quite well in my opinion.

I note on the songstress job: I've seen it in action. Yuna does dance very.....um....nicely. Oh, and her voice is ok. :rolledeye

FFVII-2 is not a game. It's going to be a 60 minute movie basically, set sometime after FFVII. Has some pretty nice animation tho, from what I've seen.

FFX-2 is based on the same engine as FFX (I think), just with a few tweaks here and there graphics wise. Game play is basically the same as before, cept for the whole dress spheres thing and the fact that there are only 3 main characters (granted, they're all female;) ).


Should be out shortly here in USA (if not already, haven't been to game store in awhile), so should make it to England by spring '04.
