im just curious, what does everyone think is the biggest problem with ssbm, personally, i think there are too many projectile weapons, making the work "melee" incorrect

dont get me wrong, its a wicked awesome game, but i think it would be better if u were forced to do more hand-to-hand fighting, and not be able to attack from the other side of the stadium

yeah i agree with gotenks and josh there should be less weopons that can hit a guy way across on the other side and be more hand ta hand combat like the title says "melee"

Close or ranged combat just depends on what characters you and your opponent use. SO if you use marth or a character with not very many ranged attacks it will be easyer for your opponent, samus, to hit marth with his projectiles.
So if your opponent chooses samus try using a quick character like fox or falco wich should make dodging ranged attacks easyer.
If you think theres too many projectle attacks and weapons, try not using them as much, or turn off items like the ray gun and stuff in the item turn on or off menu.

i think it is fine the way it is maybe a little less projectile eapons would be better but most of them dont much damage

no, but they do add up and can get really annoying, especially when yer playing with someone like my brother who always uses projectiles from far away

Okay, Chris isn't entirely wrong... but he isn't entirely right either. Every character has a counter to something. Ness is anti air, and projectiles can heal him if you use down and B. People like Marth and Roy, have their counter, and Peach has Toad etc. But some characters fall victim to their attacks. Samus is an easy target to Fox and Falco because of the deflection shield. Peach is weak at up close Melee but can deal out some great combos. So its best to use what is good to each character.

Yeah. A good trick if you have friendly fire on and its a 2vs2 or a 2vs1 match, and the 2 people on the team are ness and samus, the samus can heal the ness by using a big charge shot for ness to absorb.
Also, every character can deflect projectiles if you shield at juuust the right time, ive been practicing this with a friend.
I deflected 10 of his falco lasers one after the other like that.
Also, i guess items count as projectiles if there flying through the air right at you after they have been thrown. You can catch them if you press the A button at juuust the right time.
I always catch bob-ombs that people throw at me and chuck em right back.
