Well, a while back I installed Fireworks on my computer. It affected most of my files as now they have to open on Fireworks, when they should open as their default settings (e.g. JPEG files are opening on Fireworks instead of Image Preview, PNG files opening on Fireworks instead of Image Preview, or opening as they would normally). Anyone know a way as to set these files to open as they would by default (normally)?
If you need more info, I could give you a screenshot.

well, damn.. did it ask you (when you first opened it) if you wanted to make it the default viewer for those type of files? if it did then what you need to do is completely uninstall the program, then open the files again with the other viewer, then reinstall it and when it asks you that question, answer no. Or what you can do is (if you have a windows O.S.) is highlight ALL of the files you don't want to be opened with fireworks, right click and click on "open with" and choose your program. Before clicking okay, there will be a small checkbox in the lower left corner of the open with screen that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" check that little baby and you should be set. If you would like different programs to open certain types of files, than just highlight all that type of file and then do the open with process. Good Luck!!!!

eh....
Their is a much easier way. Just right click on it and goto open with and choose program. Then just check the box that says always use this program when opening files. Then pick the right program from the selection.

Sadly, I tried that and more. The only thing left for me to try is install Fireworks again.

No Prob, Peppage. What we've all said should work, the worst case scenario is you'll have to uninstall it and stick it back in... Good Luck:tup:
