This thread is addressed to all those who play Counter-Strike version 1.5...
On the 25th of July, Valve will begin the process of shutting down WON enabled servers of Counter-Strike. Therefore shutting down CS 1.5. Anyone who is a CS1.5 player may upgrade their version to 1.6 through Steam. The shutting down process will be completed on the 31st of July.
I was speaking to some fellow CS 1.5 players yesterday, and they are not happy about this idea. Neither am I. I am annoyed at Valve for doing this as not everyone wishes to download Steam. Even after downloading Steam, players must then wait for a download of CS 1.6. This is probably no problem for Broadband players but for players with a 56K connection (me), this is annoying. I don't see why they must get rid of CS 1.5. Especially since so many people play 1.5. Some of the people I was talking to will just stop playing CS altogether as they hate Steam and think that Steam screws up their games. I agree with these players. Players with 56K hate Steam, I am among these players.
So this is a warning to all those playing CS 1.5:
JUDGEMENT DAY - JULY 31ST. THE DESTRUCTION OF CS 1.5.
