Yes, as x-dark-latias-x said, you can't trade to red and blue.
I'll add on why: for the Pokémon games available, if you want to trade anything, it has to be with games of the same system. Red and Blue are both games from the Gameboy/Gameboy Color system, while LeafGreen, FireRed, Ruby, and Sapphire are all Gameboy Advance games. Gameboy Color games that can trade to each other, no limits: Red Blue Yellow Gold Silver Crystal You can trade R/B/Y pokémon to the G/S/C cartridges, but you can't trade any new pokémon to R/B/Y. Sorry, man. (Yeah, I know this is really long, forgive me. I just felt like going off on a long-winded explanation ^^) Edit: Oh, yeah. I forgot. Here's the advance games trading list: FireRed LeafGreen Ruby Sapphire R/S can trade to each other without any restrictions. FR/LG can trade to each other without any restrictions, as long as they both have the same pokédex, whether it be Kanto or National. FR/LG can trade to R/S if they have fixed the Network Machine on One Island. I don't have Colluseum (and I know I misspelled that), so I can't say anything about that. The reason behind the trading being impossible is not because of the system, but because the coding is much more complex than it was back then. Also, remember that Special was still one stat alone, and the fact that we now have the EV system, abilities, natures, etc. These things were not present in the past, and therefore you cannot trade between these games.

Also, the Pokémon in FireRed and LeafGreen are the exact same as the ones in Red,Blue, and Yellow except with the baby Pokémon. The games are "system tradeable" meaning all of the Game Boy Advance games can only be traded with Game Boy Advance games. And Game Boy Color games can only be traded with Game Boy Color games. Also,if you tried to trade with a Game Boy Color game to a Game Boy Advance game,it won't work. I tried it when I was 5. And by 'game' I mean a Pokémon game,ok. Too bad.

you can not do that if you read the game insrtection ( sorry for spelling ) booklet it clearly states you can't trade gb color and gb games to a gba game. and all you need to do is raise your pokemon to lvl.70

It had been over a year since anybody had posted in that thread. They probably have resolved all of the issues by now.....
Thanks, HRBEK.
