Deus Ex - Greek Mythology References?

Not sure if anybody really cares, but I thought I'd let all you Deus Ex fans that there's a few greek mythology references in the game...Here are some I've found.

Daedalus - In the game he plays the AI which helps JC escape the MJ12 prison and basically defeat MJ12. Whereas in greek mythology terms, he was the one who built that giant labrynth with the minotaur in it...

Icarus - In the game he is basically the evil AI who traces JC. In greek mythology, strangely, Icarus is the son of Daedalus...

Helios - In the game, Helios is the AI outcome of the merging process between Daedalus and Icarus. In greek mythology, Helios is the God of the Sun...

Deus Ex - In the game itself, surprisingly there is no reference to it. However, I believe it means a God sent down to resolve the plot or something. I can sort of see why they named the game Deus Ex as it could be suggested that JC's augmentations give him God-like powers, and JC does actually resolve the plot via merging with Helios and the destruction of Area 51, thus causing The Collapse...(Explained in Deus Ex Invisible War.) Also, on the box, that would probably explain the light coming down from the sky and shining on JC. I believe it represents a light from the heavens...

Well, if anyone finds anymore refernces or wants to correct me on ones I've already mentioned, feel free to do so...

I've been reading some comments about the religous references to Deus Ex in Eidos's forum...Some pretty interesting stuff some people have put down. For example, it could be possible that when the game was in production, JC actually stood for Jesus Christ, however Ion Storm have not confirmed this. An arguement to this was that if JC was meant to be a representation of Christ, why was he mortal? Pretty good question I think, however, with future scientific technology at his fingertips (IE health-regenerating augmentations) it could be suggested that he was close to being immortal...

Other arguements that JC was meant to be represented as a God was some of the comments of the AI when you're in Everret's house. It mentions ideas such as 'If God does not exist, Mankind shall create one.' Seeing as how JC was man-made, it's likely that the AI would be referring to JC...I dunno, there's no proof that Ion Storm meant for JC to be represented like this as they have not made any official statements. However, I still believe it's a possibility.

Yeah, all the sorts of stuff in this game, you would've thought there would be some stuff like this in it...Found out recently that Deus Ex and The Matrix Revolutions have a slight connection. That big machine with the face that Neo talks to is actually referred to as 'Deus Ex Machina' in the credits. I think this means 'Mechanical God' or something. Again, another thing that links JC to being represented as a God...

There's no actual solid proof that JC was meant to be a God, but still, it's interesting to wonder...Sort of.

Well i think it can be a likely assumption.. Alot of stuff points that way..

There is also Deus Ex Machina in FFX, which you often have to battle

Yeah...It wouldn't be surprising if the developers did intend for JC to be God-like as there's a lot of stuff that indicates it...Hey, are we the only ones that have played Deus Ex? Noone else is posting...

I've played both HL and DE, about 3 times each from the beginning to the very end. All the time I understood the "Deus Ex" this way - Deus means God, with Ex we name something that came to past - so I got it this way - God has left the Earth and people on their own. And they DO try to work it out. Doesn't all the DE's world look like left by God?
IMHO - JC's getting far to much goddish in the end of a game - he tends to be almost immortal, with 95% bullet damage protection and 25 HP per second health regeneration he acts like Jesus himself. Lock'em in a cave, thinking he's dead - after 3 days, oh! you won't find him there!
And that really reduced my satisfaction from playing - no longer I had to hide in a shadow, no longer I had to crouch and sneak with Prod, no longer needed to play with Gas Granades - I equipped Combat Shotgun and GEP and headed stright into the battle. Thanks to the authors - JC can't generate ammo by himself - it would be a step too far...
As said - I think JC's getting too strong in the second half of the game...

Haha, so there is another Deus Ex player... I don't really think JC gets too strong. The game was still a challenge for me in the 2nd half of the game really...BTW, if you get the Health augmentation to full, it's not 25HP, it's 40. But still, I thought it was a good and challenging game from beginning to end...
