The Christ Of Wolves - The Wrath Of Judas
"Face down, arms out
Nailed to the cross of doubt Blood runs like rain Drowning for this world in vain... Where Is Your Saviour Now?" I have been asked to write a story to go along with the Existance Of Zero poem I wrote. So...Here you are... ![]() On November 29th, 1980, a wolf was born on a remote island somewhere close to Africa. This island was basically an enormous jungle. A jungle full of animals, naturally. But the predominant animal which lived on this island was the wolf species. Huge packs of wolves had managed to survive on this island by feasting on all the animals below them in the proverbial food chain. On this island, the wolves were the leaders, and no one stood in their way. Well…Except for another species which is on top of every food chain. But they shall enter this story at a later point in time... The wolf that was born was the son of King Zero, King of the wolves on the island. Many things were expected of this wolf. Many great things, seeing as how he was the son of a legendary King. After all, it was King Zero that established the wolf civilisation they had on the island. If it wasn’t for him, no wolf on the island would be alive today. Everybody expected the son of Zero to excel at all aspects of life, just like his father before him. Whether it be a physical or mental task, the son of Zero was expected to be ahead of the pack. What is the wolf’s name, you ask? It is unimportant. But we shall refer to him as JC… 14 of our years later, JC has grown up, but his father is not yet dead. So JC still remains the son of a King, rather than being a King himself. But the future does not look bright for JC. JC is expected to excel at all tasks he is set, as I explained before. However, this is not proving to be the case with JC. Rather than being the leader of the pack, he is the one who trails behind… “C’mon JC, tackle me!” said Walker. Walker is JC’s greatest foe. He is the bully who picks on him everyday. JC is not only too weak to stand up to him, but Walker has a large crowd supporting him also. So if someone fights Walker, they fight the crowd also. “Go on, waste me…! You too scared? C’mon you pussy! Take me down!” JC knew he couldn’t. Walker would just fling him aside, like an annoying fly on someone’s shoulder. So, JC walked away. He could hear the laughter of the crowd and Walker behind him. Now if something like that doesn’t lower someone’s self-esteem, I don’t know what does… Every night, JC howls like a trapped coyote in a cage. He prays to the Heavens for a way to escape his current life. Whether it be suicide, or a miraculous burst of physical and mental ability, he doesn’t care. Just anyway to escape his depressing life at the moment…He always howls on Cross Peak, where there is an ancient symbol of what could be a very ancient religion. The symbol is basically a very big cross. Thus the name Cross Peak. Rumours say that humans know and recognise this symbol as a symbol of a certain religion. However, the wolves do not know this for certain, it is just what the wolf elders have told... Remember earlier when I mentioned another species that is on top of every food chain? You have probably already guessed what this species is; human. You see, humans do not live on this island, but once a month, 10 humans travel to the island. Their purpose? To hunt down the wolves on the island and skin them. Yes, skin them. They steal their fur, travel back to their native land and sell the fur on the market. It’s the time of the month and the humans have arrived on the island. Their leader is a man called Judas. He is a bloodthirsty, evil man and has a passion for torturing the animals he captures… “Alright you bunch of worthless maggots! Y’all got the nets?!” asked Judas, sternly. “YES SIR!” replied his human comrades. “Ok…Gentlemen! On your marks…Get set…HUNT!” screamed Judas. Judas and his men scrambled around the jungle, hunting for wolves. Nearby, the wolves were aware of the humans’ presence, and were panicking, like always. The wolves always just run in random places in the jungle, looking for somewhere to hide. But for JC, this time was different. He’d had enough of his life, and he had decided to end it. JC ran the other way from the rest of the wolves, running towards the humans. Nobody noticed JC going the other way… “There’s one!” shouted one of Judas’s henchmen. Obviously, the wolf was JC. The henchmen captured JC with the net, and took him to Judas. “Excellent…” muttered Judas when he saw JC. “What instrument of torture shall I use for this one?” questioned Judas. Judas looked around, and then he saw the cross on Cross Peak. “Hmm…Hahaha…Gentlemen! Today, this wolf shall be crucified and then skinned!” ordered Judas. The men thought Judas was a sick man for doing this sort of thing to innocent animals, but no one dared question Judas’s authority. So, the wolf was taken to Cross Peak, and nailed to the cross. Judas, being the sick man he is, oversaw the crucifixion, laughing to himself as the wolf slowly bled. Eventually, JC died, and the men skinned him. Judas was satisfied…But was this really the end for JC? Does fate have something else in store for JC? Perhaps it is not yet time for JC to die… --------------------- PART 2 COMING SOON.
