My Brother is God

Just a cute little story. It's actually something that I once thought of my uncle, so this is just rephrased a little bit.
Just as an extra note: I'm not making fun of religion or anything, just something that I thought when I was little.
And brought up once again as a joke from one of my friends.
So please, do not take any offense to the story.

And quoting her: "I'm glad God has such a great sense of humor..."

At the young adorable age of seven, I had come to the conclusion that God was in fact not in heaven, but was living in the same house as me. God was my big brother.

…Or maybe we were living in heaven, only the teachers said it was Earth so we wouldn’t feel bad for the people who were the real Earth People.

My friends didn’t believe me at first, until I explained it to them.

“Ha! Your brother isn’t God!”

I stomped my foot. “He is too God!! And I have proof!!”

Beth and Mary crossed their arms, a challenging look crossing their round faces. “All right then,” said Beth.

“Well…” A sudden shyness crept over me as I looked down at my feet. I began to kick around the little ants on the ground. “Um…well, remember how we were praying at Sunday school that Ms. Rachel would survive her coma thing?”

“Yeah.”

“And Ms. Rachel died because God didn’t answer?”

Mary looked at Beth before returning her gaze to me. “Yeah.”

“Well, God answers no questions, and neither does my brother,” I exclaimed, hoping they’d understand.

Both girls were silent for a minute, possibly thinking over what I had told them. Beth suddenly straightened. “All right, I’m leaving.” She turned to walk away, but I grabbed her arm.

“Beth!” I struggled to keep her from pulling away, Mary held onto her other arm. “You know how –” [i]Trip.[/i] “– God made everything –” [i]Pant. Pull.[/i] “– a kagillionbazillion years ago?” Beth stopped to look me in the face. “And how all those bad people are running around? I mean, wouldn’t God have stopped them already. Maybe God is lazy, and my brother never does his chores so that makes him lazy too!”

Mary giggled.

“And maybe all He does is sleeps and eats…. My brother only does that too!”

There was a sudden whoop from up above, a shadow casting over us. We looked up at the roof; my brother was on top, the sun behind his head like a halo. A light breeze blew past, causing his hair and clothes to ruffle in a godly way. He leaned forward, let out another yell as he jumped atop his skateboard, and skated down the roof.

He made it over our heads and kept skating down the streets, his laughter echoing back to us.

“Oh my god! Wait till I tell my sister she’s dating God!”

Yeah. Only, I was the little girl, my friends names weren't Beth and Mary, and I was about referring to my uncle when I was little, not my brother.
