creating focus

this is a very simple way of creating focus on certain objects or people in images. i used photoshop for this, but im sure theres a way of doing this in paint shop pro or whatever too
first, find an image that you think will look alright. i am going to use this one:

http://www.svetdvd.cz/images/18/kill_bill2.jpg

scaled down though...

paste your image onto a new file, and resize it to whatever you want if nessesary. duplicate the layer with the image on it, bouble click on the layer to bring up the blending options and turn on stroke.
grab the easer tool and go around the outside of the thing that you want to be in focus like so:

it doesnt matter too much if you do a really bad job, but keep it reasonably good. next, erase all else in the background thus only to leave the object there with the stroke around it.

on the layers panel, right-click and go to clear layer style

now then, highlight 'layer 1'

and grab the blur tool. use these settings (the brush size is up to you i guess though)

now, go crazy over the layer, bluring the whole thing. you should now have something like this.

(you can blur any parts that dont look quite right not blured.. like hair or something small like that, that is rather hard to get around)

you can leave it there is you wish, or you can change the color of the background to make the things in focus stand out a bit more.

make sure you still have 'layer 1' highlighted, and press ctrl + u

put in these settings:

you should now have something like this:

now you can just fix up any parts you think need it and you should be done =D

i like this random effect thingy whatever you call it =)
if you look at micky-fox's signature, i also did it on that

click

tell me what you think, and show you what youve done ^_^
i would like to see what people think =)
