Review - God of War

Well this is a review of God of War. One of my favourite games. Let's get started!

Story
The game is set in ancient Greece and has all the famous monsters, gods and places from greek mythology. You play as a bitter spartan warrior called Kratos. His only goal is to get reveng by killing Ares, the god of war. Nothing will get in his way, even a god. After giving his soul to Ares and becoming another one of his minions Ares tricked Kratos into Killing his own family. So kratos seeks a weapon capable of killing a god. Pandora's Box.


Gameplay
The gameplay on this game is great! Basic action/adventure syle but it all runs so smoothly. And those swords are so fun to spin around with, lol :D'. The actual Story Mode is excellent. It is a very even balance of fighting and puzzle solving. The puzzle solving itself isn't big huge multi-coloured buttons on the ground or whatever, it is blended really well into the game. One puzzle I partucularly (Not spoiling anything) is where you're in a room with a gate at one end and a button to open the gate on the other, and of course the infinitely respawning minataurs. So by the time you press the button and get off again the door has closed. What you have to do is use Medusa's head to freeze a minataur on the button and run through. The combat, is really good. It's vicious and just really fun, lol. By the end of the game you have 4 powers. Poseidons Fury, Medusa's Glare, Zues's Fury and of course the army of Hades. You'd think this would make the game easy, but no, it's very very hard, but also pleasing. the gameplay gets a thumbs up!

Graphics
Realy nice graphics on this game. The animations are really smooth and the environments are top class and highly detailed. The cut scenes are excellent and have a strange, almost cartoon like effect. The blood looks somthing like jam, lol. But in a good way. That's all I can say about the graphics but they also get a thumbs up from me.

Characters
The characters in this game are great, and the main character, Kratos, has a very interesting past. The enemy, Ares, is meant to be getting jealous and going a little power crazy. He's really cool. A few of the characters are well known greek legends and some are just people like the village oracle. I for one loved the enemies. the Minataurs and the demon things, lol. Definately a thumbs up.

Lifespan
This game, for an action adventure is prety long. The story is around 15 - 17 Hours long depending on how good you are. It is very pleasing to complete also, lol. Now, after you've completed it, like I have, you unlock a LOT of extras. You unlock a new difficulty called God Mode in which each grunt is extremely hard,lol. Also you unlock a very entertaining "The making Of" video. You also get a Character Graveyard. I love that. It goes through all the original models of Kratos and enemies they decide to leave out. It's really great. And a final challenge. The challenge of the gods. ITs like an arcade mode basicly but so fun. Another Thumbs Up.


Controls
These controls are good. Nothing wrong with them. Thumbs Up.

Verdict
Really excellent game and story. [9.5/10]
