yea forget about how i erased over the picture thats a no no i was testing something out and decided to make this tut at the same time










First take the picture of your choice i chose illicuda




Then open it up in photoshop



then choose the magic eraser



then make sure the box that sais anti alias is unchecked if your editing a sprite if its a normal jpeg its better if thats clicked



Now take the magic eraser and erase the outside



then take the regular eraser



and find a size just a little bigger then the sprite



and continuously erase untill u feel happy



the go to file save for web



it should look something like this



make sure the box labled transparency is checked



now go to the box that sais custom



and choose png 24 (or just choose it in the spot that sais gif either works)



then click ok



then save



then go on image shack (photobucket doesnt work)



and browse





and click open



then when it uploads take the direct link tab



and theirs the link to your pic

as you can see when in blends with the black it becomes brighter

i never posted htis here and i saw people were having trouble with transparency so

and it gets a bit darker in front of the grey

this is a png24 so when it is saved it has a whitish background to get rid of this instead of saving it as a png24 here




make it a type of gif

i chose png for this tutorial because its best for spritesas u can tell i went into extreme detail with this tut so even people who dont know how to upload images can do it

thats just a small overlay.
use the magic eraser and erase everything except the sprite, then when you "save for web" make sure you check the transperancy
