Wow, Mexicans can import it from the US... I don't see why they don't just release it to everyone on the same date. *shrug* Besides, I'm probably not gonna get it until Europe gets it anyway...

The delay will affect gamers in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Africa and Australia, who won't be able to officially get their hands on a PS3 until March of next year. However, the Japanese and US launches of PlayStation 3 remain unaffected, released on November 11 and November 17 respectively. Sony's plan to ship six million consoles globally by the end of the 2007 fiscal year also remains unchanged.
The blue laser diode is a key component of the PS3's Blu-Ray drive and the shortage is expected to affect other Blu-Ray products in Sony's line-up, not just PlayStation 3. However, with Microsoft claiming there'll be enough Xbox 360s to meet demand this Christmas and Nintendo's Wii expected to launch globally in the next couple of months, could the delay spell disaster for Sony? THATS why they don't just release it to everyone Following news that Blu-ray production difficulties have led Sony to delay the launch of its PS3 console from November this year to March 2007 in Europe, the company has revealed that the number of units hitting US and Japan at launch has been slashed by 75% from initial figures. It's currently expected that around 400,000 PlayStation 3s will be available for the console's US launch on November 17 while approximately 100,000 units will ship on the Japanese launch day of November 11. By way of comparison, the PS2's US launch saw around 500,000 units hitting shelves on day one (the figure having been revised from an expected 1 million units by Sony the previous month following supply shortages), with Japan receiving just shy of 1 million units.
