Disc Reading error.

OK. So I borrowed my friends copy of Civilization IV. I put in disc one to Install it and it isn't reading the disc. One time after waiting for a few minutes I finally pressed the eject button. Exacly when I did this It came up but froze. Can someone tell me if this can be fixed or does my computer just plain out suck.

EDIT- The Disc has no scratches.

Uhm, well kind of low info to actually form a fact on but I think it could be the CD itself, if your pc works fine with other game discs, and you said disc 1, so if you put in disc 2 (assuming there is one) does it read that?

If it does then it can almost only be the CD itself, if it doesn't then something could be wrong with your CD/DVD Player or with your settings, or maybe your computer hardware doesn't like the game developer's settings of the disc itself, there are too many reasons so it's kind of hard to say

Well its any disc I put into my computer. But I will try checking the settings to the CD player. Also, I put in disc 2. It doesn't read it either.

Thank you

if it's ANY disc then yes, I suggest repairing your DVD player/buying a new one.

You should see if the discs work on other computers, which is most likely if no disc whatsoever works on your comp.
