When We Cry

The small village of Kaireizawa, there's approximately a population of 2000. In June 1983, Keiichi Kuwabara moves to the village of Kaireizawa and makes alot of friends. He joins his school's afterschool club, which consist of games (oh. And "Punishment" games for the loser, which is almost always him). Kaireizawa appears to be a peaceful, normal village to Keiichi. However, the "peace" abruptly ends after the annual Watanagashi Festival, a celebration to commemorate and give thanks to the local god, Oyashiro. Keiichi learns that every year for the past four years, one person has been murdered and another has gone missing on the day of the Watanagashi Festival. Keiichi himself soon becomes drawn into the strange events surrounding the Watanagashi Festival and Oyashiro...

^This will be the plot for the first two parts. The third part will have a very different plot. The third part will be like "Who Done It?". But, that'll be explained when the time comes.

So, yes, it's not action packed, it's more like a mystery, drama RPG. Also horror, but words aren't that scary, so... xD

Bio-Keiichi is the main character for part 1. The son of a famous artist, his family recently moved to Kaireizawa after an unfortunate event involving him in their hometown. His charisma and remarkable talent for wordplay, which earns him the nickname "Magician of Words," allow him to easily make new friends and become popular in the village, not to mention win some of the club activities. When he is in need of a weapon, he wields Satoshi's old baseball bat.

Bio-Clay is one of the few guys Keiichi's age in Kaireizawa. Him and Keiichi become best friends right from the start. He's a bit strange, at times he can be nice and kind, but at other times he can be dark and blunt, even scary. He isn't afraid to say what's on his mind. In the past, he and Satoshi Houujo were best friends. When he disappeared, he vowed to his friend he would look after his little sister, Satoko.

Bio-Rena is a girl who returned from Ibaraki to Kaireizawa one year ago, and is in same grade-level as Keiichi. She has an obsession with things she perceives as cute—generally, these things are not considered cute by others. Every now and then, she goes treasure hunting in the town's trash heap, searching for "cute" things to collect, and upon finding something "cute", it's difficult to stop her. She has a habit of repeating words at the ends of sentences. When in "Take it Home" mode, she comically becomes stronger and faster. Despite this disarming trait, Rena is shown to be amazingly observant and perceptive about the things around her. According to Mion, while Rena might seem cute herself, people should be careful not to anger her as she becomes quite scary when angered. When she needs a weapon, she uses a large cleaver.

Bio-Mion is the oldest kid in Keiichi's class. As the elder, she is the class president and everyone looks up to her as the leader. Her social skills are on par with Keiichi, whom she highly respects as a friend and rival (though it is later shown that she has a crush on him). She acts like a tomboy, but has a hidden girlish side. She is next in line to be the head of the Fujibayashi household, one of the Three Families which holds tremendous influence in Kaireizawa. She is often seen with a holstered airsoft gun, even though she is never seen using it; she is, however, very adept in the use of martial arts.

Bio-Shion is Mion's identical twin sister, who currently resides in Okinomiya. In spite of their different personalities, she and Mion often switch places, and it can be difficult to distinguish between them. Their first switch took place when they were little. Right before tattooing the symbol of an oni, which is reserved for the older sister, she was mistakenly identified as Shion, the younger sister, which means that she was actually born as Mion Sonozaki, the older sister. Since then, she switched her identity of Mion with Shion, the younger sister. She was sent by the Fujibayashi family to a private boarding school, but escaped and returned to live near her hometown, where she lives with Kasai. In spite of all this, she and Mion maintain a close relationship. She was in love with Satoshi.. One of the last words that they exchanged before he disappeared was a promise to take care of Satoko. She works as a waitress at the Angel-Mort restaurant and is the manager's assistant for the Kaireizawa Fighters little league team. She is often seen carrying a taser, and also wears yellow ribbon in her hair.

Bio-Satoko is a younger classmate in Keiichi's school. She is known for her boastful laugh. In spite of her young age, she seems to have an impressive arm strength and is quite clever in setting up traps, and likes to practice on Keiichi. Although her personality is quite energetic and mischievous, Satoko's past was full of trauma; her parents died in an accident, she was abused by her foster parents (her aunt and uncle), and her beloved brother Satoshi disappeared. Though she greatly misses Satoshi, and feels that by being strong he will return, she comes to regard Keiichi and Clay as her new "nii-nii" (a cute term for "older brother"), and once even regards Shion as "nee-nee" (a cute term for "older sister").

Bio-Rika is the main character in part 2. She is a younger classmate in Keiichi's school, and is in the same grade level as Satoko. Naturally, she is great friends with her, as they live together in the same house. She is revered by the villagers as the heir of the local shrine, and plays the role of a miko in the annual Watanagashi Festival. She has been the head of the Furude house since her parents died, but rarely attends town meetings due to her young age. While she does speak in normal context, she likes to say nonsense words such as mii and nipa, which inflame Rena's passion for cute things. She also likes to describe events using sound effects, such as "The cat was going 'nya nya' and 'scritch scritch'" or saying "Clap! Clap! Clap!" when clapping her hands. Despite her young appearance, she seems to be quite fond of wine, as well as kimchi. The wine she drinks is hinted to be Bernkastel vintage. There's alot more to her then meets the eye...

~Satoshi Houujo~
Satoshi is the older brother of Satoko H. Although he is currently missing, his past influence is the key to the actions of several characters. Keiichi is often compared to Satoshi by other characters, as the two have certain physical similarities.

~Oishi~
Oishi is a veteran police investigator at Okinomiya who has vowed to solve the mystery of the Kaireizawa murders before his retirement, to avenge one of the victims he was friends with. Due to his uncouth tactics and the lengths that he goes to in order to solve the mystery, he is looked upon as a nuisance by the villagers, especially the Fujibayashi family.

~Dr. Irie~
Kyosuke is the head doctor of the village clinic. Despite his young age and the fact that he has a severe lolicon/maid fetish, he is highly respected in the community. He cheerfully makes house calls and seems to truly care about everyone's health. He has (half-jokingly) admitted that he wishes to marry Satoko when she is older, but is not above chasing after Rika when she is wearing one of the uniforms from the restaurant Angel Mort. In addition, he is the manager of the village's baseball little league team, the Kaireizawa Fighters.

NOW that's it... Haha. Alot of stuff. BTW, you can only have 2 sign-up characters. Why 2 when I have like 7? Well, because they're important characters in what this RPG's based off of. I changed alot of names though. Mostly last names. The only one I added was Clay... And that's that.

Bio- Tysaro has lived in Kaireizawa for all of his life but still prefers to be alone rather than mix with the locals - some locals whom he knows very well even. Nobody really knows why he likes being alone but then, nobody really cares too much. Tysaro is very intelligent but because he prefers being alone, he rarely gets a chance to show his intelligence. The only time Tysaro is completley happy to be around other people is when the Watanagashi Festival comes around, as not commerating the local god would not to be good for him.

Bio-A man who notably hates Keiichi for his popularity. Prior to Keiichi's arrival, Yuuki's family moved to Kaireizawa an year earlier. Having extraordinary talent in almost every acvitity and being a wild, comical extrovert is what gotten him renowned in the village. What appears to be an easy-going gentleman who often wins the heart of many with his charm, is really a self-centered and power-hungry fiend who is often jealous of those more popular then him (hence his extreme hatred for Keiichi). Being both zealous and ambitious, there is never a time when he gives up on a matter and will always achieve his goal, regardless of the consequences he may face. He is simply senile and can commit vicious acts without even knowing why - or even caring about it. It's unknown what drives him to act like this, but the fact that much of his history has been shrouded in mystery may explain a few things. Despite how caring he may seem, Yuuki shows no real care towards anyone, even to his friends and family. Because of this, he won't hesitate to use their relationship as a means to manipulate them into doing his bidding, which often results in getting them into severe trouble (worst case scenario is death). Yuuki is a fan of Chopin's work (seen as in his themes).

Theme-Giya's Theme - Terumi's Theme
Bio-The "boy" boy of the infamous Hayashiyu twins, Giya's twin brother Terumi being the "girl" boy. Their parents have uncanny superstitions, one of them being that having twins of the same gender would bring their family misfortune. When Giya and Terumi were born, their parents decided to "disguise" Terumi as a girl in a desperate attempt on avoiding this misfortune. Giya grew up to be a stereotypical, rough boy whereas his brother ended up becoming drastically effeminate in both personality and appearance. Giya has neutral to positive feelings toward Terumi, in spite of admiting how awkward it is to have someone like him as his twin brother. On the other hand, Terumi suffers from inferiority complex when dicussing about Giya - mainly because of how he's often treated as the "girl". Because of this, an odd rivalry sparks between the two siblings. Notably, Giya is very lax and often says "Dude" alot. Both Giya and Terumi plays guitar (Giya is more fond of acoustic or Spanish guitars, while Terumi likes eletric guitars as well as using amplifiers.. which is kinda weird if you think about it). Giya also uses guitars as weapons.
Looks-Both Giya and Terumi's appearance are strongly based after this character. Of course there are a few differences such as the attire (They both wear traditional school uniforms - male for Giya and female for Terumi) Giya undoubtly looks more masculine and has shorter hair. By the way, the character in the image is actually a boy. How ***y.

Note: Later in the story, Giya will be replaced by his brother.

PART 1: When Cicadas Cry
Opening for Part 1

In a dark room, loud noises can be heard... It sounds like people getting their faces knocked in with a baseball bat...

EPISODE 1: Spirited Away by The Demons

It's morning in Kaireizawa, birds are chirping, the air is as clean as can be... That means it's time for school. In the Kuwabara household, in the bedroom of our "Hero", Keiichi...

Keiichi is seen sitting up in his futon, and stretching out. "Ngh... Ugh."

A female voice can be heard. "Keiichi! Breakfast!"

Keiichi then stands up and yawns. "Waugh..." Keiichi then starts to get dressed.

A bit later, down in the kitchen, a young man Keiichi's age, wearing the exact same school uniform he is, is sitting across the table from Keiichi's mother. He has spikey hair and dark brown eyes. This would be Kobayashi Tenshou, mostly known as Clay. He's Keiichi's best friend. Clay holds up his hand, with a fish hanging out his mouth. "Hey." he's greeting Keiichi.

Keiichi points at him, with the classic "What the hell?!" anime look on his face. "What are you doing wearing one of my uniforms?!" he shouts.

Clay simply waves his hand, brushing Keiichi off.

A vein pops out in Keiichi's head.

"Keiichi, calm down. I let Kobayashi borrow it." she says.

Clay is still waving his hand at Keiichi, while eating with his other hand. "Yeah, K. Calm down."

Keiichi's jaw drops. "But, why mine?! What's wrong with yours?! You know we all don't have to wear the same uniform!"

"Clay continues to eat, and isn't looking at Keiichi. "Mine are in the wash."

Keiichi simply sighs.

After they're done eating, Keiichi slings his bag over his shoulder and gets ready to leave. Clay, on the other ahnd, simply holds his bag over his head.

"Alright, we're leaving, Mom!"

"Ok! Be sure to thank Rena for the pickles!"

Clay raises an eyebrow. "Pickles?"

Keiichi then leaves the house. "Yeah, pickles."

Clay shrugs and follows after Keiichi.

The two are seen walking through town. "You know, Keiichi. We're late. How can you keep two cute girls waiting?" says Clay.

Keiichi shrugs. "It'll be alright. They can wait."

A sly expression appears on Clay's face. "You know, Keiichi... Which one you after?" says Clay in a very sly tone.

Keiichi's face turns beat red. "W-what are you talking about?"

"You know... Mion? Rena? Which one you want? I mean, Mion's a tomboy. And she would probably walk all over you..." A perverted expression suddenly appears on Clay's face. "But those melons man! The melons!! Plus, I bet older women are more "experienced"!" says Clay in an added perverted tone.

Keiichi facepalms. "Why do I hang out with this guy?" he says to himself.

"But, then there's Rena-chan... She's such a cutie. And she's sweet, innocent..." Clay then starts squirming around. "Ohh! She's just my type!" Clay shouts out, getting a few strange look by villagers.

Keiichi sweatdrops, looking embarrased to be with this guy.

A young boy in the same.. or rather similar school uniform to Clay and Keiichi's bluntly walks alongside the two. "Morning Kuwabara. Kobayashi." He greets the two so quickly. This is Giya Hayashiyu. He leers at Clay. "Pretty energetic today, huh?" He looks away and whispers. "Keep it down, I heard there's a dangerous gang of thugs roaming around here. Yelling like that will surely get their attention." Giya saids, in a sarcastic manner. Seems like he's just joking around.

[Jack]

Tysaro is being his usual quiet self and is walking to school on his own. However, he is close to Clay, Keichi and Giya and can hear them somewhat clearly - clearly enough to hear Clay's perverted outbursts at least...

"How can someone be SO perverted..." Tysaro mutters quietly. "Then again... Clay has always been known for being perverted..."

[Admiral44]

Clay notices Giya. "Eh? Thugs?" Then Clay practically shouts this next part. "I'm not scared of thugs! I'm not scared of anything!! Hahahahaha!!" Then Clay quiets down to a normal level voice. "Anyway... Yeah, I am pretty energetic today. I just have a feeling that today's gonna be a good day!" says Clay cheerfully.

"The one walking with us is Giya Hayashiyu. He's a strange little guy. He's in chill-mode most of the time. He's a buddy of Clay's. The one walking close to us, but not with us, that's Tysaro Yurinasta. He's a quiet guy, I don't know very much about him. He doesn't seem to like people to much." This narration is said from Keiichi's point of view.

Eventually, the four have to walk by a big tree, where a young lady, dressed in a white top, and blue bottom for a girl's school uniform, is standing, waving to them. She has orange hair and bright blue eyes and is holding a small school bag in her hands.

"See that girl? That's Rena Reiyugu. I've only been friends with her for a few weeks, and I already know that her name's not the only thing strange about her."

"Hey, guys! Good morning to ya!" she says.

The four of them walk passed Rena, and she follows beside the three walking together, beside Keiichi.

"Early again, Rena? You could sleep in every once in a while." says Keiichi.

"Yeah, but I'd hate for you to have to wait on me." says Rena innocently.

"Ohh!! She's so cute!!" This is Clay's narration...

"Who said I'd wait on you?" says Keiichi bluntly.

Clay's eyes grow huge and he punches Keiichi in the shoulder. "Hey!" Clay then looks at Rena and smiles. "Ignore him, Rena-chan. I'd wait long enough for you so that it'll be enough for the both of us."

Rena then blushes and looks at the ground. "That's very nice of you to say..."

Clay then whispers to Keiichi. "That's one for me, negative one for you, buddy."

[Magoseong]

Giya whispers to Clay, rolling his eyes to the side. "Dude.. Quit kidding to yourself." A fat grin appears on his face. "She's way out of your league!" Giya then stares at Rena, innocently. "Oh, and good morning to you too, Reiyugu!" Giya then realizes something and looks dumbfound. He eyes around, trying to find something.. or someone. "Er.. Hey, where's Terumi? My mom said that.." He pauses for a moment. "... S-she was going to head to your house to walk with you, apparently. Or something. So, where is she--"

Suddenly, a young cute girl (or someone who looks like a girl) who bears resemblance to Giya's face, only having long flowly blonde hair, jumps out of nowhere and wraps her arms around Giya. "SUUUR-PRISE~!!" This is Terumi.

Giya tips foward, nearly losing his balance. "Gah!! What the--!? Dude, get off of me!" He saids with an annoyed look on his face.

Terumi makes a pouty face. "What's wrooong~? Can't I give Onii-chan a hug once in a while? Sheesh.." She clings onto Giya.

Giya blushes, looking incredibly disgusted. ".. Why are you keep addressing me as if I'm the older sibling? You came first, remember..?! And we're twins, damnit..!" He looks like he's getting strangled.

"Being hugged like this.. And out in the open. It's so awkward! Is Terumi really my brother? Dude.. None of the other guys know about his real gender and consider him as a girl. I mean.. I don't even know what would happen if they did find out!" Giya's narration.

[Jack]

Tysaro begins to walk much quicker. He is getting bored of the group walking near him. Tysaro can now see the school from where he is walking, so he walks out onto the main path and heads for the school.

[Admiral44]

Clay smirks, placing hand on Giya's shoulder, squeezing it pretty tightly. "Hey, don't be so rude to your sister, Giya. Cute girls deserve respect." I don't think that's why he's crushing Giya's shoulder...

Then, a young woman is seen approaching.

"Hey, hey. What's taking you guys so long? We're all going to be late!"

Clay notices the young woman. "Oh? Well, if it isn't Madam President."

Rena notices the young woman as well. "Oh! Hi Mion!"

"See that girl with green hair? Unlike Rena who's so self-conscious, this one makes up her own rules. That's Mion Fujibayashi. She's a grade higher then me and she's the chick who pretty much runs the school." Keiichi's Narration.

"Oh, and she's the class president. Hence why I call her "Madam President"." Clay's Narration.

Later, everyone is seen sitting in a classroom.

"Kaireizawa is a really small village. The only school has one classroom for all of us. Our class is made up of about twenty kids total. And we're all of different grade levels. To add to that, we all share the same teacher! I don't know how she does it, keeping up with all the different grades... Anyway, when other students need help, I sometimes have to teach my friends myself." Keiichi.

A happy go lucky theme can be heard.

Rena is seen highlighting something in her book. "You know, Keiichi. You're a really good teacher. You know that, do you?"

Keiichi is seen slumping in his chair, with depression lines over his head. "You know, I hate teaching you guys... It really tells me what I don't know." he whines.

"You know, if you're gonna teach someone, you have to know it three times better then they do." says Clay and Mion in unison.

Keiichi then slams his hands on his desk and gets in Mion's face. "Hey, wait a sec! What am I doin' teachin' you anyway?! Aren't you a grade higher then me, shouldn't it be the other way around?!"

Mion then slams her hand into Keiichi's chin, knocking him over. "Yeah, yeah. Quit whining."

Clay is seen busting up laughing.

[Magoseong]

A tall blonde haired man is seen laughing ominously and calmly, overpowering Clay's laughter. He leers down at Keiichi from his seat. "What's the matter, Keiichi-kun? Is it that stressful for you?" He says in such a cold way. He eventually looks away from Keiichi, scoffing. This is Yuuki Kisagami. In general, he's a very social and easy-going person - but he acts completely different towards Keiichi.

Giya is seen with his head laying down on his desk, snoring. Giya doesn't get alot of sleep, so he usually takes long naps in class. Surprisingly, he still gets adequate grades - some people suspect he cheats off of Terumi, but that's just a rumor. Speaking of which - Terumi is seen sitting beside Giya, looking out the window, humming along to the happy go lucky theme.

[Jack]

Tysaro is sitting at the very back of the room, right next to the wall. He hates being in school. He honestly believes he is surrounded by a complete set of idiots all the time. Nobody really knows why he hates being around people. Nobody has ever really done anything to him.

[Admiral44]

Clay's left eyebrow is twitching. "Geez... What a laugh." Clay says to himself.

"Heh." Keiichi then sits up in his seat, smiling. "Not really. I enjoy helping out my friends."

"That guy, Yuuki Kisagami... He doesn't like me very much. I'd even go as far to say that he hates me. I honestly don't know why, I mean... I don't remember doing anything to the guy." Keiichi.

"Oh! Keiichi-kun, do you have any plans for tomorrow? Well, do ya?" asks Rena.

"Huh?" Keiichi looks at Rena.

"You're still having trouble finding your way around Kaireizawa, right?" asks Mion.

"Well, yeah... Kinda." Keiichi replies.

"That's what I thought. So, Mion and Rena are going to do Keiichi a big favor. We're going to take Keiichi on a big, long walk and show Keiichi all around Kaireizawa. I was thinking of making lunch for everyone. You interested?" asks Rena.

"Yeah, come on! It'll be fun!" adds Mion.

Keiichi then looks to the side and scoffs. "Sure. If I'm free."

A vein then pops out of Mion's head. "Yo! What's with the attitude? You have two cute girls askin' you out, here!"

Keiichi then wraps his arms around his head and smirks. "I said if I'm free."

Clay then looks at Keiichi. "Well, you could go to the city with me instead, K."

Keiichi looks at Clay. "Ehh..."

Rena then gives Keiichi a sad look. "Well? Are you going to be free, Keiichi? Are you?" she says in a sad tone.

Keiichi then holds his hand up. "Oh yeah, I'm free."

Rena then smiles. "Happy now!"

"Alright, you little punk! Why do you treat her so much better then you treat me, huh?!" Mion practically shouts.

Keiichi simply sticks his tongue out at Mion.

Clay then winks at Mion. "He doesn't know any better, Madam President."

[Magoseong]

Giya is seen yelling in his sleep. "Shudyap!" He lifts his head up. "You're all too loud!! I wanna get some sleep here.. Ugh.. Zzz.." His head falls back down.

Terumi notices Giya and a sweatdrop slides down her forehead. "Onii-chan..!" Sounding like as if she was scolding him.

Yuuki is heard making a noise. "Tch.." He looks annoyed but pays no attention to Keiichi and the others. A malicious smirk appears on his face, as he rids himself of stress. "Hmph."

Giya raises his hand and speaks in a slow, calm tone. "... Can I tag along? I like Rena's cooking.."

[Admiral44]

Rena looks at Giya and smiles. "Of course Giya can come!" Rena then looks at Terumi. "Terumi can come too! The more, the merrier!"

"Ohhh, Rena-chan's such a cutie! And her cooking's absolutely top-notch! I wish I could go, but I gotta go to the city and... Handle some things." Clay.

Rena then looks at Clay. "What about Clay? Are you coming?"

Clay smiles. "I wish! But, I gotta go to the city tomorrow. Handle some business, you know."

Rena then gives Clay a sad look. "Oh..."

Clay then makes a nervous expression and waves his hand. "P-please don't give me that look, Rena-chan! I don't have a choice, I gotta go!" Clay then bows to Rena. "Please forgive me!"

Keiichi and Mion sweatdrop. "Uhh..."

Rena then smiles. "Oh... Ok. Maybe next time!"

Clay then looks at Rena. "Of course, of course! Anything for you, Rena-chan!"

Keiichi then gives Clay a curious look. "What will you be doing in the city?"

Clay then looks at Keiichi and gives him an evil smirk. "Oh. We all have secrets we keep now and again, Keiichi." he simply says.

Time skips ahead...

The next day, Keiichi and the others are seen walking up a bunch of steps leading to the shrine. They're all dressed in casual clothing. (No school, after all).

"This place is the Furude Shrine! I think it has the best view of the whole village!" says Rena. She's dressed in some type of white dress, and she has a white hat on.

"Great..." says Keiichi. Keiichi's wearing a red vest and khaki shorts.
